Bidrage med feedbackJames and Vicky are very welcoming and friendly, perfect evening, accommodated large group of friends at short notice and couldn't be more helpful, great food and bar, can't wait to visit again soon, were allocated tables on arrival, plenty of space outdoor also.
Unfortunately the interior is very tired and it has never really achieved its potential in 35 years. A real shame.
We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The food was all homemade and portions were generous. The service was friendly and the prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with exposed beams and an open fire. Overall, a great dining experience.
My partner and I and her son visited for a bit of lunch on a chilly February day. I have been here several times for a drink and always found the staff very friendly and welcoming. I recommended this bar to my partner for food after being here for a drink and seeing some of the food being served . Me and my partner ordered the breakfast and her son went for a half pounder burger . Well what can I say, the food was obviously freshly cooked and of a high quality . I added an extra portion of chips because I felt really hungry . I have to admit when the fry up arrived i realised that I did not need the chips . The breakfast was massive . It included 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, beans, fried slice, mushrooms , a fried tomato .... two halves , hash brown and toast all for the princely sum of 7.95. An absolutely hearty meal for an amazing price . My partners son had the half pounder which came on a large bun , chips and onion rings on the stick that was put through the burger. He said it was delicious , he has a healthy appetite but he did struggle. Have tasted the food myself and have seen others eating here and being an observant person I am yet to hear a complaint about the food since Justin and his crew took this place over. Top notch
We visited this restaurant on December 12th to try their Christmas menu during lunch hours. Despite a large pre-booked walking group, the majority of the pub was empty. The landlord greeted us warmly and we were pleased to find a cozy fire burning. My wife was offered a complimentary pot of tea to warm up from the cold weather outside. We both enjoyed the Portobello mushroom with stilton walnut starter, which was delicious. This was followed by the main course of roast turkey and ham with all the traditional trimmings, including a variety of vegetables and sides such as roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, and pigs in blankets. The portion sizes were generous and we were unable to finish everything on our plates. I managed to save some room for the Christmas pudding, which was a perfect end to the meal. Overall, the meal was excellent and offered at a reasonable price. I would give it a 5-star rating, but I deducted one star due to the restroom facilities needing refurbishment and the limited selection of ales (London Pride and Adnams Ghost Ship).
