Village Tavern Charlotte

Disappointed there was no draft beer available. On a Saturday night that is not a very good thing. My Husband was not pleased. This has happened before The Village Tavern also with this restaurant.

Food was not as good as it usually is. My Cobb Salad was a simple mix of standard ingredients, part of a good Cobb is keeping ingredients distinct. Cocktails ok.

Second visit in a row that we’ve experienced an issue with the food. Calamari was outstanding but my chicken Caesar salad was super slimy and chicken was a tad undercooked, took one bite and was done.

We had reservations and did not get seated until despite there being several tables open. Twice we asked to be seated at a booth and were escorted to a table even though several booths were available nearby. We complained and got the booth. The hostess was frazzled and things appeared out of control at the hostess stand. Once we were seated, the menu was basic and unimaginative. We received our food it was fair but not up to the caliber one would expect from a restaurant located in the South Park neighborhood. Our recommendation is dine at your own risk but there are many other better places nearby.

We normally love Village Tavern but had a disappointing experience on Friday night. Reservation for but didn’t get seated until close to Hostess gave no indication when I checked in at how long it would be until table was ready. After being seated our server brought our waters promptly but then got a top table in her section. She verbally said to the hostess loud enough for us to hear “I hope this table isn’t going to be mine...I’m trying to get out of here!” Then she disappeared for minutes. I didn’t see her anywhere or any other servers who’s attention I could get so I finally had to get up from the table and search for her. I didn’t find her anywhere so asked the hostess to retrieve her for us. A few minutes later she came with our drinks and claimed that she was waiting for the drinks to be made and that the bartender had been backed up and that’s what took her so long. I don’t think this is true because when searching for her I didn’t find her waiting for our drinks at the bar. However, if this was the case she could have come back to get our food order in the mean time (typically what we experience at other restaurants). After delivering our drinks she took our order. While taking our order her cell phone audibly went off...loud enough to where it was difficult to place my order and she was clearly distraught. She pretended like it didn’t happen. She did not apologize. After that things improved and we received our food quickly. Just honestly a disappointing experience for a restaurant in a competitive area like South Park.
