39 Rue De Jean Charleston

Always a real treat to meet old and new friends at Rue de Jean. Atmosphere is great, foot is top shelf, and service excellent. I am a little hard of hearing so the noise level when the restaurant starts filling up is a little difficult for me. Typically I have my food by the time the noise level increase, so not doing a whole lot of talking.

Flavorless meal except for the soup. Under-staffed in the kitchen hen so our waiter left to help, so that ended the service for the evening.

Caesar salad was not very good large pieces of lettuce in a deep bowl more of a tossed salad than a traditional Caesar salad. The rabbit was overcooked and although it was requested that potatoes be eliminated from the dish they were served with the dish. The Coq au vin was very good.

The food here has really gone downhill. The escargot was made with straight butter not clarified butter which made it heavy and impossible to eat. The mussels had very little flavor. The duck was served with no sauce, very dry. The salmon was overcooked and flavorless. The duck croquettes had a weird consistency. The only good thing was the crème brûlée. The service was good given what he has to work with. Overall I'll never go back.

A boisterous place great food drinks ok seated in nice seats better than booked! A little loud but pretty great for last minute.
