Crook's Corner - Chapel Hill

I love the relaxed feel of this place –felt like a very comfortable dining room

Have eaten here times over the years and have never had a bad meal or experience. Even with Bill Smith moving on, Crook's is still the star of upscale southern cuisine in North America

Disappointing. Got the shrimp and grits. Completely overpowered by almost a quarter cup of raw green onions and almost as much bacon. There are two recipes for Crooks Corners shrimp and grits online. They use the easier one. We use the better one

Our first time after crooks corner! I had the hanger steak and my wife had the sign shrimp grits! both were fabulous! the steak was tender and the pommes were perfect! I had a trophy wife ipa first with a good kentucky bourbon! my wife had a beautiful lico chardonnay and I followed with the traditional pbr for dessert! love this place! its terrace is surrounded by bamboo and gives a cozy feeling!

Experience! my first time that I have garnished and grotten and it was really good! Our group also got a Cesar salad, porkloin and the sampler. everyone was super impressed. husband's earlier shrimp experience was with 82 queen in charleston and said that this was different, but still very, very good. pricier than we expected, but fantastic. one of the better stops in the chapel hill. will put it on our short lists to take family / visitor. the terrace was absolutely beautiful and a great mood. even during the night of rain! I can't believe we waited so long to taste crooks corner! the desserts were fabulous! we tried the bananenpudding, brownie and minze sorbet, which were all fantastic! could definitely be a meal of sharing small plates and desserts.
