Bidrage med feedbackThe staff is reasonably friendly, although that can change from one day to another. Everything is pretty average about this place. The location is nice, just at the top of the telecabine and there is a nice view of the surrounding mountains. Otherwise, it's just another on-slope restaurant. Prices are high (normal for on-slope I guess).
If the weather is terrible, you can ski and laugh with friends in this mountain self-service restaurant. The food is average tasting. There's live rock music that's better. People smile. There are sometimes spontaneous dancing. The nearby mountains are difficult. Not recommended for beginners skiers.
I was really happy to find a mountain restaurant that seems to encourage people to drink water and thus reduce the use of plastic bottles. If only more mountain restaurants would be at the top. Well done Le Chalet Charamillon!
Based on the other reviews you would not think much of this place, but we liked it. We stayed in Chamonix the last 2 years and skied Le Tour several days during each trip. This is a comfortable lodge with beautiful view and the cafeteria style food was as expected (and the prices, although higher than standard restaurants, was also as expected for a ski lodge). I thought the pizza was good. The only disadvantage is the beverage line painfully slow and inefficient. Surely not fine food, but exactly what we were in the middle of a ski day. On our Saturdays they had live music, which made it even more pleasant.
For a change this fast-ish food joint on the slopes at the top of the Le Tour gondola is quite a pleasure to stop by either during the day for a drinks break or for lunch. The chalet serves both regular fast food as well as having a pasta counter but the large terrace outside is what is the draw on a sunny day. Food is inexpensive but well cooked and staff are friendly almost unusually. Certainly a stop to revisit on future ski trips.
