Chamonix L'impossible

Very nice ambiance inside a timber frame building with beautiful chandeliers. Quality of the food was mixed. We started with a plate of prosciutto and salami that was quite nice. My partner's ravioli had really interesting filling, and with the sauce it was delicious. His entree was the pork fillet that was presented in a gorgonzola sauce; the pork melted in his mouth and the sauce was rich and flavorful. So far we're at a 3/5. I had the stuffed calamari as my entree and was disappointed with the way it was undercooked and how it tasted (the filling flavors didn’t go together) maybe a 2/5.The service started out great but as the evening went on we were ignored. (2/5) We practically had to tackle the server to get our bill and pay it. This has been a common complaint of ours about restaurant service in Switzerland and France. Once your food and beverages are ordered, the server delivers them and you’re left completely alone....very rarely checking back to see how your food is or if you want to order something else. They also pour your first glass of water and/or wine and then you are on your own.

Wonderful meal! The owner (and wife of the chef) has celiac disease and when I mentioned I had Celiac she said ‘my husband will cook for you like he cooks for me’. They had lots of gf dishes (marked on the menu) and even had homemade gf bread made from scratch with teff and chestnut flour. To top it all off that night they had gf tiramisu which was out of this world!

Lorenzo and his mother Donatella are wonderful hosts. Donatella has celiac and her husband is the chef. The food is creative, fabulous and there are many many options for every course. We decided to eat here 2 nights in a row.

The woman that helped me is very well educated on the specifics of Celiac. I felt very safe. I chose some grocery items and devoured a gf Vietnamese noodle salad. Recommend!
