Bidrage med feedbackIt was a cold rainy day in November and we were driving in the area at lunch time. We saw signs to the Villa Barberino and thught we would try it. We were disappointed to find the restaurant closed. We were about to drive away when XXXXX came to the door and asked us if she could help. We explained that we were looking for a place to have lunch. She told us that they were not open for lunch but the staff was there preparing for dinner and if we did not mind waiting a few minutes, we could be served. She seated us by the fireplace and brought us some of the excellent wine from their vineyard. After a few minutes, we were seated in the dining room and proceeded to enjoy a fabulous meal and much more wine. We were shortly joined by XXXX son, the winemaker who graciously told us about the wine. It was unbelievable that thry opened their doors for us when they were technically closed and fixed such a wonderful repast on short notice.
I had the pleasure of dining at the Osteria; I have to say, I been delighted with the quality of the service; the floor staff were professional and very polite. Let's not forget the food!!! Amazing!!! The right amount of portion (not like some places, that serve you pretty plates but, you get up from the table hangry, because the portions are to small); very good presentation and delightful taste. Thanks for the amazing experience.
Can’t ask for a more picturesque setting and the food was good. Waiting staff could have been more attentive though.
I ate there for my first night as a guest of the Villa Barberino which hosts the restaurant although the two are separated. As a foodie, and demanding client, I can only recommend Il Tributo! Not only is it proper Italian food but the Chef adds that twist of originality that makes your dish taste like the ones of the great tables of this region. The fresh walnuts in the tagliatelle al cinghiali, the liver pâté in the thighs of the pigeon perfectly cooked and the rose pepper in the home made grapefruit sorbet that accompany the crème brûlée aux agrumes are the little touches that transform a traditional dish into a memorable one. The service, discrete but attentive, professional and multi-lingual (French, English, Italian) ensures that an international and demanding clientele will appreciate the place for sure. And of course, eating in the gardens of this beautiful 18th century Tuscan Villa is no more than the cherry on the cake.
An absolutely charming restaurant in an environment that should not be missed. With an interesting menu and great service, this Osteria is an ideal spot for exceptional risotto, guinea fowl and steaks. The wine list is a stronge collection of local vintages, offering a diversity that is needed with the varied menu. Make reservation because sitting is limited and arrive early so you get a chance to tour the grounds.
