Retruned after several years and what a treat ! . starter pasta main and dessert.! everything is freshly prepared, menu different everyday and the owner has a real genuine charme. a great evening !
If your journey to Cacciatori starts at Udine or Portogruaro, you are a bit more than an hour away. Ours was an additional hour and it was well worth it! The place looks simple from the outside, and you enter through a bar for the locals. However, the restaurant part is warm and cozy, especially with the fireplace on and not overcrowded with loud guests. The dinner started with a simple but effective amuse bouche local ricotta with caramelized local variety of onion (and probably a bit of orange zest . The rest was proposed by the owner and we gladly followed: light flan with preserved cheese blend, polenta with a pork fillet skewer, culatello with porcini (excellent; imagine perfect fresh porcini end of November! , sublimely tender pumpkin gnocchi with wild duck sauce, pasta with sausage and porcini (we certainly didn’t mind the ingredient repetition , duck tagliatta with pomegranate and roasted potatoes, and the most inventive dish of the evening dried wild boar fillet with fresh radicchio, cracklings, and a tiny bit of oil and vinegar. The last dish sounded heavy, but was refreshing, and looked light but was packed with flavor. The dessert utilized two local ingredients an old variety of apples and persimmon combining them into the final touch of a wonderful dinner. Price with a bottle of excellent house Refosco was 120€ for two. Totally worth it!
