Bidrage med feedbackLes Gerardies is situated on the pleasant main drag, le Cours Gambetta, in Cavaillon and has an agreeable terrace as well as a large interior. I dined there alone on the terrace last week and was very impressed with the variety and range of dishes...offered in the 3 fixed menus. I chose the cheapest Coqueliot one (at only Euro21.00) and was delighted by the panache of textures and flavours of all 3 courses of my menu. My waitress was fast, friendly and knowledgeable. Fabulous but simple dinner for one for a mere Euro26.00 including a glass of local red. It 's worth visiting Les Gerardies if you 're in or near Cavaillon.
We had dinner on the 16th October having followed the recommendation of our rental host. Although quiet at 8pm the restaurant was full by 9. Very modern decor but also very elegant. Excellent food selection from the 20 and 25 euro menus. Service was impeccable...by a young waiter who was the double of soccer star Christiano Ronaldo! All 3 courses were beautifully presented and delicious and excellent value. Would definitely eat there again.
We chose this restaurant based on the recommendation of our villa host in Cavaillon and had experienced other restaurants in the town so could offer a comparison. Due to being a very hot evening, we decided to eat in the air conditioned salon which struggled...to cope with the residual heat of the day, so at times became uncomfortably warm but this was the same across everywhere. The restaurant is presented very well giving a very good first impression. The staff were excellent being very polite and attentive. We chose a la carte as we wanted a smaller meal than offered by the good value set menus and so chose entrecôte cooked in various ways and were very impressed with the taste and presentation of the meal, especially the herbed potatoes on skewers. During the meal a knife was dropped on the floor by one of our party and I could not believe the speed at which it was recovered and replaced by the staff (superb). After a main meal we decided to order four of the five desserts offered on the menu (the one we did not sample was the Duo because it takes 25 minutes to prepare and has to be ordered at the beginning of the meal). Each of the desserts were presented superbly and tasted just as good. Each served with a trademark chocolate tuile which I would buy by the packet if I had chance, I strongly recommend the banana fritter with cherry sorbet and Nutella which, when combined, was stunning. Altogether a great and memorable dining experience and the restaurant certainly earns its local recommendations. The pricing was extremely good value based on other basic restaurants in the town. Strongly recommended.
Le Gerardies was our choice for dinner on our second evening in Cavaillon, recommended by our B&B host. While the food was fine, we found the atmosphere a little too modern and cold in design for our tastes (white on white, with white). I'm kind...of amazed at how much that affected our overall experience. But I realize others will feel differently and like that look. The place was crowded with locals. Service was efficient, and prices reasonable. Located on a main street, but the restaurant's signage made it a little difficult to find. Not too much English spoken.
Aside from being highly ranked by TA for Cavaillon restaurants, Les Gerardies was also the restaurant selected for us by our hotel the Toppin, just a block or so down the street. Apparently they moved recently. The new location is chic and modern with the...usual few tables out on the sidewalk. Our waitress spoke perfect English. For the entree my wife had an layered tomato/egglplant/goatcheese dish with green salad on the side. I had a goat cheese croustillant on green salad with smoked porkbits and corn. The goat cheese deep fried in the thin pastry shell was delicious. For the main course my wife had fresh tuna steaks breaded in sesame seeds and potatos au gratin. I had roast pork with baked baby potatos. Both servings were ample and delightful. For dessert we both had the apricot-chocolate mousse with scoop of sorbet on the side. The house red wine by the glass was very good. Were we ever to return to Cavaillon we would certainly go back to Les Gerardies. Be sure to make a reservation as they were 100% reserved the night we were there.
