After waiting from 9.30pm to 11.00pm with intermittent service abandoned in the last room, the 50-piece sushi mix arrives. The photo speaks for itself. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
We stayed at Basho Catania on Sunday 25 February. Upon arrival they asked us 3 times if we had booked before being seated in a cold and atmosphereless room, even though I had said that it was a special occasion (a birthday) and having specified to the switchboard that we wanted to be placed in the room main (seen on Instagram, it was our first time at the restaurant). Here comes what we later discovered to be (again via Instagram) the restaurant manager, who offers us a route aimed at trying the best specialties of the place but who in reality was only trying to dupe us into selling us the dishes which we later saw were the most expensive. This made us quite indisposed. He also seemed to be annoyed by our refusal to agree to his proposal, so much so that he never came back to advise us and another girl came to serve us, very pretty and polite who listened to us and advised us based on our tastes. The other boy then approached the right table to bring us a plate and the bill, but in a much more informal manner, as if he no longer appreciated our presence there. A point to break in their favor is that, after pointing out that we had requested the main room, the one with the giraffe, they satisfied us by cleaning a table and making us move, after all the room had emptied a few minutes after our I arrive. So let's say that as far as the atmosphere is concerned, it was certainly not welcoming at all in the first room. The situation improved subsequently. The experience wasn't the best because we didn't notice genuine transparency and courtesy except from the girl (very sweet and nice) who served us afterwards. From a place like this with prices that are anything but modest, we expect impeccable service so we cannot give the maximum score. We also ordered a dish where the shrimp was supposed to be seared and instead it arrived battered. In short, I could continue with the other flaws but I just want to say that a little humility wouldn't hurt and also some soft skills courses and consultative selling. Take a tour of the European capitals and you will understand how far you still have to go, try to adapt to those who reach certain standards for a product that may be similar to yours, and then you will be able to offer certain prices and talk about a 360-degree experience. To conclude the food, it was good. Particular. The presentation of the dishes was noteworthy. It's a shame, because we came full of enthusiasm but unfortunately we were a little disappointed.
