Bidrage med feedbackAfter the tour of this beautiful Chateaux and it is beautiful gardens that once owned by Josephine Baker, what a way to finish our visit with a great lunch here.
Excellent food and possibilities for music on the side of the Dordogne These gardens were originally created by Josephine Baker to offer a playground for the children who adopted them and who lived in the Chateau des Milandes on the hill above. This place had gone... over many years, but has now received a loving facelift, after Rosemary xxxxx and her husband with the intention of having a music location and an excellent restaurant in this beautiful location. We discovered a music event that took place before the opening of the restaurant for the high season. Dinner was offered on the lawn under trees next to the Dordogne – a wonderful location and a great experience for several of our group of nine who had not visited there before. Food and service were excellent and the music evening was a joy – with Dessert back at our table in the dusk. An unforgettable and special evening. We were sad to leave the area before the restaurant was completely opened.
The gardens were originally designed by Jules Vacherot at the beginning of the XX century. In 2016, the gardens were completely restored, including wonderful watercourses from 1909 drawings. It is a beautiful quiet garden to walk around. 70 birds of prey live in the castle and we were able to observe some of the falcons that showed the predominance of these birds.

We were so pleasantly surprised that Milandes had been so restored and so beautiful! What a great tribute to Josephine Baker and her family!
