Bidrage med feedbackWe come to Benicasim/Castellon at least once a year and this is one of our favourites. The accomodation is quite primitive, but what you get on your plate is the best and freshest fish in town. The concept is very simple: as a starter: there is only the tomato salad, as a main dish: there are usually no more than four different kind of fishes only the ones that can be captured at that moment reservaties is not possible: you put your name with chalk on a board: when a table is free, they call you and it doesn’t take that long. Prices are reasonable: it depends of the fish you choose .... Really really really good
I went there last Easter with some friends and the experience was utterly satisfying. Fresh product, quick service and a fishermen atmosphere at a reasonable prize. It's not economic but you don't need neither to be a business Tycoon as in other well-known places at the neighbourhood. They don't take bookings so you could choose either to be any early-bird or to write your name down a blackboard and enjoy a beer while waiting a free table. Totally recomended!
It doesn't look much but them=n often the best places don't. There's a no reservation policy, you chalk your name on the board and are seated in a strict order. You choose your fish of another chalk board menu whatever was caught that morning. We ate her a couple of nights and if we'd have found it earlier (rather than being drawn to the rather smarter, touristy restaurants in the main area of the port) we'd have eaten here every night. Yes, its that good. If you like fish fresh and beautifully cooked you'll be in heaven. We were.
La fideúa pobre, aunque generosa, mal hecha. Poco marisco, congelado, mucho sepionet de segunda, poco caldo, mala paella (eso no es socarrat, eso es que se ha pegado, por eso no sale ni con un escoplo) El pulpo mejor, pero no deja de ser unas patas de pulpo congelado de supermercado pasado por la parrilla. Sin acompañamiento. La ensalada pobre, muy pobre para lo cara que es (un tomate, un sexto de cebolla que ni es dulce y algunas aceitunas rotas de las más baratas). El servicio pésimo. Hay que llegar allí para que te apunten en una lista, no admiten reservas telefónicas ni de un día para otro. Tampoco saben como organizar las mesas, que son demasiado pequeñas y con asientos malones. Una hora de espera es lo mínimo que te va a pasar. Eso sí, una vez sentados la comida se prepara y sirve rápidamente, es lo que les salva, pero a costa de ser una comida mediocre de un menú extremadamente limitado. La cocina podría dar el doble de servicios y ofrecer mucha más calidad con una mínima organización. Pero es su decisión, han decidido no ser un buen restaurante, solo uno del montón.
Tienen buena materia prima, pero el precio es alto para no admitir resevas y ambiente informal.
