Cane here on the off-chance and managed to get a table. So glad we did, food is incredible just incredible, lots of it, the staff were amazing and they tried really hard with English and we tried hard with our Portuguese. The views here of the Douro river just make it the most amazing place.

Best restaurant in Douro valley, I’m proud to be Portuguese and find hidden gems like this . The food is amazing, the people are very nice and the view is to die for. Really recommend going here for a late lunch or early dinner. You can watch the sunset in Douro’s River.

It seems like this place came into a little bit of increased patron activity stemming from some online praise (which I find highly questionable now having been there myself), and have lost all sense of what running a successful business is meant to look like. Let me preface this review by saying I’m FLUENT in Portuguese; reading, writing and speaking, and visit the country very often, having travelled it from top to bottom over the years. So this wasn’t some form of tourist bias experienced at the behest of the owner (short, loud woman with a stench of superiority emanating through her mannerisms and speech). The place just isn’t worth visiting. It’s literally in the middle of nowhere (outside the train station of Tua), with nothing else nearby worth visiting, and the views ARE NOT “breathtaking” or “memorable” at all, as I’ve seen some other posters mention. You’re near the river, yes, but I assure you there was nothing spectacular about it all. It’s a river, with no other ‘quintas’ nearby that would lend itself to contributing to the picturesque views you can experience elsewhere in the Douro valley. Also, the posted hours of operation for the dining room are completely inaccurate. So be forewarned; if you visit between 230pm 6pm, you’re not eating. Yes, I realize this is standard practice in Portugal, and really everywhere else in the world, but there are obvious exceptions to that rule, especially when it’s listed as such on there self monitored Google page and other online platforms. And while I did manage to get us something to eat, it was bland and left us feeling like we had wasted hours of our lives that we would never get back. The staff aren’t the warm and inviting types that you can typically expect from the Portuguese people, and the journey definitely isn’t worth the squeeze when it comes to this one. Nothing about this place deserves any form of commendation and I’d recommend to avoid it at all costs.

We arrived a little bit late for dinner but we were welcomed with a nice smile. The staff was really helpful and kind and the food was really good. We asked some starters and then the main courses and it was all really tasty,except for the chips that were very oily. The place is very clean and has a beautiful view towards the river. We stayed at hotel Casa do Tua next to the restaurant. And we highly recommend both.
