Bidrage med feedbackWe visited Toby Carvery in Carmarthen for Christmas dinner. We tried to book a table over the phone, but were told we had to do it through the OpenTable website. This was a bit disappointing as we were expecting a quick and easy reservation process. When we arrived at the restaurant, we had to wait before being seated. We were told we could go to the carvery whenever we liked, so we headed there right away. There was a long line at the carvery, which was not unusual during peak times. However, we were surprised to see that only one chef was carving the meat, and he seemed very stressed and disorganized. We ended up waiting for our food while our drinks arrived, but they were not what we had ordered. Trying to get the attention of a waitress was difficult. When we finally managed to ask about the bill, we were told we had to pay at the bar. However, when we went to pay, there was no one there to accept our payment. We eventually found a waitress who took our payment. We were shocked by the high prices of their non-alcoholic drinks. Overall, our experience at the restaurant was disappointing and we are not likely to return in the future, especially because of the lack of organization during peak hours.
At the arrival we were greeted with the name I had made the booking, and we were asked where we would rather sit. a table in the window had just been released so that the recipeist cleaned the table for us in a few minutes. we got a menu to decide whether we go carvery or special meal. there was a short waiting queue for the carvery, with an excellent selection of meat and a lot of nice drinks were ordered by the waitress corine. after the post-grind we then ordered two ice cream special, with a selection of several sauces. a very pleasant experience.
We visited Toby, Carmarthen for our office Christmas lunch. We rang to book a table, however we were told that this could not be made on the phone, only through the open table website. I was disappointed with this as having made the phone call, I thought it would only take a minute or two for the customer assistant to make a reservation. Once we arrived at the restaurant, there was a wait before we were taken to our table. We were told we could go up to the carvery whenever we liked, so we went straight up. There was a lengthy queue, unsurprising that it was 1pm and during your peak hours. However, I would have expected there to be more than one chef carving the meat. The chef that was carving, was quite clearly under stress and was very disorganised. This resulting in us not sitting down with our food until 13:40. In the meantime, our drinks had arrived at the table but they were not as we had ordered. Getting the attention of one of your waitresses seemed impossible. When she did come over, we asked her for the bill, knowing that we were already going to be late to return to the office. When it came time for us to pay, there was no one around to take the payment (neither had anyone brought us our bill). We found a waitress that eventually took our payment. The four of us were appalled with the price of your soft drinks. I don't think £2.80 is in any way a reasonable price to pay for a soft drink, which was from the pump and watered down! This spoilt our experience in your restaurant and would put us off returning in the near future, if at all. The main reason being that there is only one carver in your peak hour that held us up by nearly 40 minutes!!!
On arrival we were greeted by name as I had made the booking, and we were asked where we preferred to sit. A table in the window had just been vacated so the receptionist cleared and cleaned the table for us in a few minutes. We were given a menu to decide whether to go carvery or special meal. There was a short queue for the carvery, with an excellent choice of 4 meats and plenty of vegetables. Drinks were ordered from the waitress Corine. After the mail meal we then ordered two ice cream special, with a choice of several sauces. A very enjoyable experience.
