Black Bear Buffet - Carlton

I waited for three hours, only to be told they had run out of crab legs and prime rib.

We were a party of two and waited three hours without any updates. We overheard the host telling another guest that the crab legs and prime ribs were out, but we would have appreciated if he had communicated this directly to us, as we were sitting right next to the host stand. Additionally, we observed him allowing another couple to jump ahead in line while others were still waiting. The staff could definitely have been more professional.

I was initially disappointed because I couldn't get assistance in identifying which dishes were gluten-free due to my celiac condition. It took multiple requests to various staff members before I finally had to say, “I drove all the way from Winnipeg for the buffet and blackjack, and I need to speak to a sous-chef.” One employee reluctantly called a sous-chef, loudly insisting that there were no gluten-free options available. Thankfully, the sous-chef came out promptly and kindly showed me all the gluten-free choices in under five minutes. The meal turned out to be fantastic!
