The Penny Farthing Coffee Shop

We tried the small breakfast for £5.25 and it was delightful. The food was freshly cooked and served by friendly and helpful staff. We couldn't find any faults with it. The price was very reasonable and it even included toast and a choice of tea or coffee. Staying at the nearby Travelodge, it was convenient for us to have breakfast at Penny Farthing.

The staff was completely awful. They provided no assistance whatsoever. I do not recommend dining at this restaurant.

Great breakfast, great coffee, reasonable prices, and very accommodating to customer needs. Not much else to add!

I’ve ordered from Penny Farthing once before and had a jacket potato that was quite nice. On my second time, I ordered from their dedicated gluten free menu (I am gluten intolerant). The food was delivered and after about 10 minutes I received a call to say “we’re really sorry, the gluten free order you made hasn’t been cooked gluten free sorry”. Essentially they had poisoned me and the rest of my day was ruined due to allergic reactions. My bf phoned and requested a refund, which they did provide they blamed the error on a new member of staff; but this shouldn’t be an excuse when allergies are involved. Such a shame if you can’t 100% promise that you can cater to gluten free; do not offer it. I won’t be ordering again as the trust is gone unfortunately. Otherwise, nice little cafe just be aware if you have food intolerances that need catered for.

This is off the beaten track but is a proper cafe. The bacon muffin was tasty and the service was good considering the current problems.
