The Chimes Cafe - Carlisle

This small cafe is located by the cathedral. The staff are lovely and the food they prepare is good old washed tasty meals. This is a popular place with locals, who want to watch the world go by.

Simple wholesome food. Uncomplicated, friendly staff, convenient location and good prices. They deserve to be successful.

We visited on 13th October on a day trip out for my husband's birthday. The cafe was deserted when we entered at 11.30 am but within half an hour, virtually every table was taken and now we know why! We ordered all day breakfasts and can honestly say it was the best we've had for yonks! The sausages (which I don't usually eat) were beautiful, the hash browns (which I also tend to leave as they're usually tasteless nothings) were to die for and must have been home made and the eggs (which I always insist are dippy but covered over on top) were just right. I did say I was a fussy eater. This seems to be a very popular place with locals and we understand why! Well done! We shall be back whenever re revisit Carlisle. Thank you.

We called in here before visiting the castle. The food and service were excellent. Well worth a visit.
