Bidrage med feedbackBefore I get into it, the food tasted good. However. One time I visited the KFC in the town centre and ordered a burger. After an extensive wait for fast food I sat down and finally began to eat. When I opened my burger box there was no top bun, just some sad chicken on limp lettuce and the bottom half of a burger bun. When I went to get this fixed I had to queue for a further ten minutes to speak to a server, and when they did get to me a got a non committal grunt and an unwashed, ungloved cash handling hand plopped another piece of bread on top and walked away. I consider my experience at peace and plenty to be roughly equal. It took a long time to order. It took an eternity for the food to actually arrive. I will concede there was a table of ten getting their food in between those two, but as literally the only other table I do not consider the wait times to be justified. During the wait there was no music, no atmosphere, and a general air of just no-one being bothered. We ordered some drinks about 5 minutes before the food arrived. We did ask for them again as people were finishing their meals. The wine arrived pretty sharply at that point but the two cokes did not arrive until after everyone had finished eating. Apparently they were just changing the line, but perhaps that could have been mentioned before we'd already waited 15 minutes for them and chased it up. As for the drinks, we were asked if we wanted a pint or half pint. On requesting a pint we received pint glasses with close to an inch of air at the top. This was the case for both diet and regular Coke. When receiving the bill we noticed that the cokes on the bill were 2.50 for a pint, but the cokes purchased from the bar in between were 3.00 a pint. When questioned we were fed some nonsense about bottles and draught, but at no point had it been mentioned, and every glass came the same way. Portions were small. They tasted fine, but for the prices on the menu there was less than there should be. We had some vouchers that made them reasonable for the end price, but at full price I'd have been annoyed. The vouchers were mentioned when ordering, but not applied to the bill before it was sent to us, so that should have no bearing. I wouldn't say the staff were rude as such, but they seemed very uninterested and made no effort to interact, aside from one (ginger? lad who brought some drinks to us from the bar and actually seemed to give a damn. The evening was topped off with a tremendous fart from one of the staff. I know these things happen but it really did seal the deal for us. Overall, would not recommend.
I always wonder why soup of the day is the same every day, OK, I was only there 2 days but for some reason I expected something different the second day. The food is lovely but the menu is short.
Having already been to the Peace Plenty restaurant in Decemember for sunday with Santa i decided to go back again with my mam and two children as we really enjoyed it the first time we visited again the food service didnt dissapoint. It was another delicious three course meal I had the haggis bon bons, the beef(main was beautiful, beef was cooked perfectly the garlic mash soo good) then the Vanilla cheesecake with the blueberry compote my mam had the garlic mushrooms, beef and Lemon posset, then the two children had cumberland sausage, mash yorkies. The complimentary bread and water is always a nice touch when waiting for your meal to arrive. The operations manager Alistair is very good with the customers especially with the children and has a brilliant sense of humour that just makes everyone in the restaurant laugh, which makes the atmosphere in there even better he really gives it that extra finesse a restaurant needs to run well. Its a lovely family friendly restaurant that i would be happy visiting even on non special occasions too. The new menu i looked at sounds really tasty its somewhere i feel very comfortable to take my children without judgement that you may get at some nice restaurants. Thank you very much for another pleasant meal.
Opted for a dinner, bed and breakfast package at the Crown Mitre. Worth every single penny. The menu had a good choice and each dish was piping hot with decent portions. Haggis, neeps and tatties to start, fresh bread on the side, followed by a traditional turkey roast with all the trimmings, and finished with a generous helping of sticky toffee pudding, sauce and ice cream. Totally scrumptious! All washed down by a fabulous bottle of wine. The tables are all laid out and set out nicely, the lighting and music is subdued which is a nice touch, the decor is quirky and there is a pleasant atmosphere throughout. None of this would have been possible without the ever attentive Tracy and the young lady working with her last Saturday evening. Top marks also to the hotel management and kitchen teams. Thank you everyone for a wonderful birthday meal, we only just realised that you are open to the public and we will be back!
Excellent meal. We were staying at the hotel anyway and the weather was not very good so booked the restaurant. So glad. Excellent service. The starter of braised beef cheeks were superb. To follow I had the pork and black pudding wellington which was lovely, my wife decided on a steak burger thinking it would be just a small meal. It was gigantic. Just like in the USA. Had to help her finish. Both really stuffed. Would have loved the cheese and biscuits
