Bidrage med feedbackIf you enjoy simple food, prepared fresh and getting a good portion as a reasonable price. This is not a chain restaurant, it's a dinner with dinner food.
We started our meal with deep-fried pickles, which looked like dill pickles but tasted more like hot, flavorless green sticks. The accompanying sauce was described as off-white and gelatinous. We then ordered the Canadian pizza, which was good but not necessarily the best. The dough was soggy, requiring us to eat it with a knife and fork, and no condiments were provided with the pizza (such as hot pepper flakes or Parmesan cheese). The pizza did include real bacon and plenty of cheese, which likely affected the crust. The sauce was decent but not exceptional. Overall, we were unimpressed and likely won't be returning. If you happen to be driving through and are in the mood for a greasy spoon breakfast or dinner, this place may be worth a stop.
I stopped in because the parking lot had room for an RV pulling a car. I walked in the door and the dirty carpets made me want to turn around and leave. But I sat down and realised they sell beer! After 5 pm in Carleton Place it's hard to find beer. The beer was cold and the Bacon Cheeseburger Poutine I ordered cake out hot and super delicious! The AC works well also. So if they would clean the carpets this place would be perfect. The service was amazing also.
This charming little restaurant is a hidden gem. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoy our visits here, as it feels like a nostalgic trip back in time. The name may be deceiving, as I am curious about its history. The décor is simple and slightly outdated, but it is clean and well-maintained. It has more of a diner vibe and I personally wish they would get rid of the carpet as it doesn't seem fitting for a restaurant. They specialize in home-cooked North American food such as pizza, burgers, and fries/poutine, all of which we have found to be delicious. While they are known for their pizza, we also enjoy their French Onion Soup and Fish and Chips. Some of the staff may come off as gruff initially, but they are all friendly and welcoming once they get to know you. We make it a point to dine here about once a month during the warmer seasons and would definitely recommend it to others, although the dated décor may not be to everyone's taste.
Hands down, best pizza in Carleton Place. The crust is medium, with a generous amount of cheese (but not too greasy). The crust is crispy and is always made on time. The restaurant itself is a bit dated. Its clean, but in serious need of a revamp. I prefer to do the takeout. Menu is big, but don't count on anything fresh. Its mostly deep fried, ready to go items. The bar menu is small and are better off swinging by the LCBO before you pick up your pizza. The service is really friendly, but at times slow. This place is ALWAYS busy which is great. The portions are very big and great for the price.
