Bidrage med feedbackExcellent tatin Tarte, large gourmet plate for 2 people, friendly service, terrace with a view of the river and the roofs of the old town
Here's the good bits: the owner/manager is charmingly eccentric, the location is stunning, the black pudding and chorizo are very good. The Spanish wines are also very good.On the downside it's not very Spanish tapas, in fact other than some authentic ingredients, it's not very well prepared. We were amused by the service, but honestly the food is not good. We have had tapas and pinchos in many different Spanish locations, and even our village at home has the most amazing tapas bar. With each ping of the microwave we wondered what might arrive next!Go for a drink, perhaps the budin, but not for a meal. Sorry, here no good food, let alone "here no duck", credit or debit cards either...
The woman and her waiter were very friendly. So far the good. There is a line of microwave ovens where they heat up the frozen portions. The food wasn't that bad but the skin on the sausages though from the microwave. I was more worried about the hygiene over there. The open 'kitchen' was cleaned just before the millenium and never since. The kids were offered an icecream (cornet) but I send it straight back : It was unclear if it was melted and frozen again straight after some animal had a bite from it, seen the traces of teeth and the wrapped paper. The toilet ... well : ever seen trainspotting?Enough said. I've been around and can handle some "creativity" in tidiness, but this ranks high on my list of filthiest places ever.
This restaurant was really great and friendly, we'll come back next summer for sure. The food wasn't bad, I especially recommend the tortilla, and the owner was a lovely woman.
When we sat down the waitress recommended the special plat du jour tapas and we were happy to go with this. As the evening went on it became obvious that actually nothing else was available! There were basically 6 or 7 dishes as the whole place was being run by 2 girls. They cooked, they waited on,they took the money (cash only no cards). Most food was either frozen, microwaved or both. The tapas we had were a strange black sausage, pretty tasty, but odd, chorizo, again tasty but appeared to have been boiled, a passable spanish omelette, some roasted peppers with garlic (probably the best dish) and a salad. Our son went to the loo and confirmed he had seen most things being microwaved.Such a pity as the setting is beautiful and the staff really were lovely. The following night we went to La Petite Vigne just up the road, so very much better...
