The Corner Cardiff

The small coffee shop has a lovely and inviting interior. However, I found the food to be too expensive. I didn't feel like the price matched the quality of the food. For the amount we paid for avocado and salmon on toast, we were expecting a higher quality dish. Unfortunately, the avocado was not fresh and was more like a liquid than smashed. The rest of the menu seemed equally pricey. I was very disappointed and do not plan on returning for the food.

The restaurant is conveniently located and serves delicious coffee, but it is let down by its cleanliness. This should be a top priority for them. Despite being quite busy, the staff were working hard to keep up, but it felt like they needed more help clearing and wiping tables. The fact that the cafe allows dogs inside, while preferred by some, means that I probably won't be returning, especially considering the overall lack of cleanliness.

I had made a polite request for no tartare sauce on one sandwich and no butter on the other, but he just grunted at me. When we received the food and took it over to the park to eat, we realized that both requests had been ignored. As I was about to give a half-picked apart sandwich to my two-year-old, we found mouse droppings in the takeaway bag. We immediately took the food back and asked for a refund. The manager was incredibly dismissive, turning his back on us and simply telling the waitress to "just give her a refund." I had been excited to try this place, but I was deeply disappointed in both the manager's attitude (which seems to be a common theme based on previous reviews) and the lack of hygiene. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant.

Took my elderly mother for our first indoor dining experience since lockdown. The food was OK, but the observance of Covid guidelines was sadly lacking. At no point were we asked for our contact details and the waiter did not wear a face mask. He did manage to eat a plate of chips with his fingers just before he collected our plates! Not planning to rush back any time soon.

The outside of this delightful place belies it’s worth. Inside it is great decor, comfy spaces and good food. The interior design is a great vibe and it should be a bustling cafe. Well worth a visit
