Fintans Fish Chip Co - Cardiff

So I'd like to commend this chip shop at pentwyn. It was an experience. I had to wait a while for gluten free, But definitely worth the wait, not just because my food was exceptionally good, but because of the atmosphere in this shop. Everyone laughing enjoying their job. The girl on the till with the red hair didn't stop chatting to us all customers that is. The young lad they called Leo was absolutely spot on with his customer skills. I would go here just for the atmosphere. Well done fintons good staff good food.

Well, where do i start with this one, me and college was on the road working, and it looked like a place to stop. Well, I guess we was wrong!! Chips Was cold and expensive for what it was! Curry sauce. Hot curry sauce Was shocking it was luke warm and runny, My Curry sauce looked like frog spawn Just stay away from there. it's bad for chippy and i eaten in some dumps being from brimgham, but this chippy makes brimgham 5 star Even after all that tried to change us for brown paper bags .

Use the Llanishen unit regularly, pricey, but that’s the way lately, my main reason for not going more regularly is to my mind they always under cook their chips, I like mine brown and crispy, theirs are yellow white and hard. Sunday roast potatoes is my ideal look and taste, but Fintons are pretty tasteless. Agreed, I’m picky so I like what I like, it’s a busy place so lots of folk are unconcerned.

Been going to the Llanishen branch for years and always had excellent fish and chips. Recently over the last few months we have seen the quality go down hill. Watered down curry sauce, very small thin cod bites, pies with tops so hard they were unedable and chicken breast chunks which were so tough they were hard to cut. Its sad to say but we won't be going there anymore after the latest disappointment.

Well, the days of going to a take away and actually collecting food is over, ruined by the delivery services where the food may turn up, could possibly be what you've ordered and hopefully not be stone cold but that's another story. I had my daughter stay over and asking what she wanted for food she suggested fish and chips, great idea, suited me as it was fairly late and I was tired. Fintans in Pentwyn was the place to go as their food is okay, chips can be a bit mediocre though and they like to microwave pies but the chicken curry is nice. Anyway, when I went in it was full of people waiting for food, I was waiting for a full five minutes without being acknowledged (no one in front of me waiting) and started to wonder what was going on, then I realised the people who had made the effort to go and order where being held up by the mass of online orders placed by Uber, Just Eat and the Deliveroo lot. I then left after not being served and went to the Llanishen shop thinking it may be better, quieter, that was a mistake. The Llanishen shop was also rammed with people waiting for their orders, again, all being held up by the online orders that had been placed. I managed to eventually place an order and after at least a 25 minute wait my order was ready. Whilst at the counter I overheard one member of staff say to another to stop completing orders for people in the store and to make the online orders a priority shocking! Well, what an absolute disgrace, as I've said, food is mediocre at best and the service is now terrible, I will never go to Fintans ever again! I will never use Uber, Just Eat or Deliveroo, from experience they're not good, as well as the sites being insecure, fraud was committed on my just eat account and a take away was delivered to someone in London at my expense, so beware if you use them!! I thought the point of a take away was that your order order would be dealt with quickly, hence fast food, what a complete waste of time! Uber, Just Eat etc have ruined the take away, I've even heard the staff complain about them in Fintans. So why do Fintans0 use them, profit, which I understand, nothing more, but a system that works needs to accommodate all needs to be in place, online orders shouldn't impact people who've made the effort to go to the store. There really is no point in going anymore, I wonder in the long run if it will have a negative impact on their buisness, either way I'm done with Fintans. I will go to Maelfa fish bar from now on until they are also over run with the food delivery app people, make sure you take cash though, their chips are nicer too.
