Bidrage med feedbackDinner with old friends and high expectations of this well-known restaurant. No perceptible aircon on a hot night. Our white wine arrived warm and without an ice bucket, we were told these were not used, one eventually arrived. We waited 75 minutes for our first courses which included omelettes with morels. The promise of 'omelettes onctueuses ' delivered rubbery, dry and underseasoned eggy cylinders. We were hungry, we ate. Main course lamb sweetbreads were overcooked and dry, served on piping hot iron griddles that increased the misery. Overcharging for mineral water meant that 6x75cl bottles cost €60! We discussed our disappointment at checkout and asked for a gesture to be made. This was refused. The chef (alone in the kitchen) declared that we had had a 'perfect meal '. He became abusive and slammed the restaurant shutter down violently on my friend 's foot causing bruising and shock. Do not eat here.
We did not feel up to the award winning, multi starred Cantine de Robert. However, literally across the street is an amazing Italian run by the same person, with the same chef but more affordable. The maitre d' (Christophe) is utterly charming and incredibly enthusiastic about both the food and the wine served. He's also incredibly knowledgable. I ate the best pasta of my life (and I've eaten a LOT of pasta) with the most perfect ragu sauce. My husband (Mr Hard to Please) was equally enthusiastic. Next time we are going to save up and go across the street although, we might not. . .!
We have eaten twice now at this fabulous restaurant and I can't recommend it enough. It was just wonderful to take our time and enjoy every delicious mouthful, the excellent service and the fascinating surroundings. We took a friend who was celebrating his birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect for the occasion. Such a joy!
Sincere cuisine with excellent local products very well prepared. Very copyy portions. we left delighted, and surprised the negative and undeserved previous comments in the light of the evening we spent.
We visited mid week in September, and the restaurant was very quiet. Overall, we found the food to be very interesting and pleasing. The chef is clearly very innovative e.g. Creme Brulee with a lavender flavour; excellent use of local ingredients. The waitress was experienced and informative, answering our questions about the food, flavours and method of preparation etc. The restaurant is more expensive than most in Carcassone, but the dining experience is memorable. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who takes an inquisitive attitude to food, and likes to try French cuisine with a new twist.
