Bidrage med feedbackPrices have gone up. Food has remained the same. I don't know if I'd come here as much. Other island restaurants are offering more for less. That's my opinion.
I would highly recommend the view, as for the ambience, well....It must be extremely difficult to staff in these islands. It shows in the service and the quality of the food and the care how it is prepared. When, understandingly, they must charge higher prices, the food is judged to that standard and it definitely fails. And so did the server - who ignored us for the most part. The service charge I would not mind, but for that I expect service. And that to my standards was non-existent. We are not going to return unless things change.
I had 2 piece fish and chips, I thought being 20 yards from the ocean the fish would be fresh, stupid me, frozen shaped pieces like the store variety (Walmart) with more batter than fish. Both fish and chips were overcooked and dark brown, the coleslaw had no mayo, go figure!I noticed that they penalize you if you are a table of 8 or more by increasing the price of your meal by 18%, no choice about it, they add 18% service charge, its on the menu in small print! If their servers refuse or can't serve 8 guests with a small basic menu and plated service then they need to fire them and get staff that can and want to! I will never give my business to a restaurant who fine their paying customers 18% so I will never return, nor will my friends or their friends, et al.Wake up Poets Cove Pub, 18% mandatory gratuity went out with the Ark, oh.... that's a boat isn't it, what would you know about boats being so close to the ocean!Do you honestly believe that any of your clients are agreeable to your 18% penalty regardless of how poor the service or food is? Unfathomable!
As indicated by others the correct title is "Syrens Cafe & Pub". We boated to Pender with some friends and on the plus side all 8 of us raved about the food. Unfortunately we all universally agreed service was at the bottom of the scale and I cannot recall ever receiving such awful service. It has been a number of years since we've been to Poets and we seem certain food quality (though it really is pub grub) has gone up and service the opposite. Poets was recently sold and apparently the new seem to be taking things in an adverse direction.
My first visit here was in 2011.This time I had a margarita, and a hamburger.Service was fast and friendly. One of my friends had a pizza and like it. He thought it was very good. My friend had a crab sandwich and thought it was good.Overall we thought the place was OK.Not sure when we will be back because we go to different islands every year.I don't think you will be disappointed at the pub.
