Dogwood Social House - Cape Girardeau

This is a fantastic venue for the entire family! There are plenty of activities to enjoy, ensuring everyone has a blast. They offer a wide variety of options, and the prices are reasonable. The food and drinks are excellent, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning!

The draft beer wall was down, so we only had about five bottled beer options to choose from. The service was a bit slow and seemed sparse, as many of the servers were chatting amongst themselves, so staffing didn’t seem to be the problem. Our food arrived warm rather than hot, but it didn’t take long to cool down before we could eat, so it wasn't a big deal. We ordered pizza and wings, and both were quite delicious. The garlic sauce they add to the pizza gave it a unique flavor that we really enjoyed. We didn’t try any of the games, so I can’t provide feedback on that.

I truly wish I could give a 5-star rating, but that wouldn't be honest. The food and atmosphere are wonderful, but the service is incredibly disappointing. I know that finding good staff can be challenging, and I completely understand that. However, every time we return to give them another chance, the service seems to deteriorate. Just a side note: there were only us and one other table occupied at the time, so there’s really no excuse for the lack of attentiveness from the server.

Half of the games in the game room were broken, and one game was incorrectly charging double credits to our card. After having to get things adjusted twice and only managing to play three games, we decided to give up. Thankfully, we were able to use our card at other locations. The air conditioning in the game room was clearly malfunctioning; it was slightly cooler outside the game room, but still not great. Both bowling lanes we were assigned to had issues, and the pool tables were torn and dirty, with poorly maintained cue sticks. The shuffleboard was also broken, missing and having damaged pucks. Additionally, the beer card expires after an hour, meaning we had to keep asking the bartender to reactivate it for every round, which felt unnecessary. Overall, our experience was disappointing. However, I want to emphasize that the staff was very friendly, and we appreciated their efforts—especially the nice manager who understood our frustrations. The venue itself, though, is in urgent need of improvement.

The service was extremely disappointing. We were instructed to place our food orders online, which we did, but the waitress never informed us that they didn't have the meals we had selected. We waited at our table for over 45 minutes. With a large group, the staff brought out meals that were similar to our orders without any communication, leading us to mistakenly think the food belonged to other diners who were engaged in games. The food sat on our table for nearly an hour without anyone informing us that it was actually ours. Despite inquiring about the wait time, they failed to mention that our requested dishes were unavailable. I will not be returning to this restaurant!
