Bidrage med feedbackFinding places like Il Tortello is what makes travel so much fun. We drove through Pescia Fiorentina before lunch and stopped to look around. We came back for lunch and were glad that we did. The tagliatelle with Ragu Al chiangale was one of the best plates of pasta that I have ever had (and I’ve eaten a LOT of pasta. The grilled radicchio was a great contorni. We gambled on the rusticiana (translate said it was rotisserie but it was really spare ribs); no matter, it was delicious. We overordered and overate….the portions are generous. If you’re in Capalbio or nearby, take the drive. You’ll thank me.
Simple, a bit bland but totally genuine. Salsiccia alla griglia particularly good. House red wine works well with the cooking. Cinghiale alle cacciatore, crostini, agnello alla grigilia all fine but no comparison to Guido at Magliano for example. We didn't try any of the pasta which we regreted as we saw it go by; we'd definitely go back to try the pasta. Service excellent and always there, very friendly, chatty a really pleasant lunch.
We were on our way to see the Giardino dei Tarocchi and nearby found this great trattoria. My husband had cinghiale alle cacciatore and I had agnello alla gligliata, both which we loved. The house wine was very fresh and satisfying. The waitstaff were all very personable and helpful. The antipasto misto was a good mix of satisfying antipasti.
We followed the sign s to this place, thinking that it was going to be good. We could see the women in the kitchen cooking from bought food, so heating up. I ordered a Pesto di pomodoro and Mandorle, though it was Pesto from a jar and two cherry tomatoes. an Absolute fraus. we paid and left. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy the atmosphere was horrible and sad, and way over priced. you can tell that the owners are more focused on ripping off customers rather than cooking some fresh good food
There is an old advertising saying, you can 't eat atmosphere , and it would apply here to il Tortello. But the beauty is, you can, and will want to return to eat at this simple, local gem of a restaurant. The speciality here is their pasta, offering a selection you can choose from, and then what type of 'topping ' aka ragu, pomodoro, etc, you would like. Get the house wine, a simple in season starter, chase it with one of their pastas, and if you have room (the proportions are huge! , a nice dessert. Your eyes will not believe how much you can eat, for so little. Suggestion: make a reso, be polite, and even if you don 't speak a lick of Italian, say grazie as much as you can. You will be very happy.
