Bidrage med feedbackWe were with a tour group so our meal was selected for us. The Caprese salad was very good as was the pasta, wine and desert. You have a view of one of the temples from most of the tables.
We only needed a little something to keep us going until dinner time, and our tasty lunch here fitted the bill perfectly. Tasty pasta, fresh salad and a light lemon sponge cake for dessert, ummm.
Our taxi dropped us off at a side entrance to the Paestum which was at the entrance of the Ristorante Nettuno. We had to wait for the dining room to open...first 10 minutes, then another 15 while the kitchen opened. Once we were seated, it was hard to get the attention of the waiter..he was very busy doing nothing! We finally ordered lunch and wine as well a bottle of water. The water came out pronto...but we waited for our wine and then we had to ask to have it opened. And then we had to ask for wine glasses. Our lunches arrived some time later after we had a chance to munch on delicious rolls, which had the consistency of a bagel...YUM! The Baked Pasta was nothing memorable but the noodles themselves were good. The Veal with Buffalo mozzarella was excellent! Once we had eaten we had a hard time getting the attention of the waiter. Finally I asked for a pastry and the check. Well, we got the check but no pastry. I felt that the waiters were very uppity and could have given us much better service...instead they tended to look the other way when strolling around the restaurant. The dining room has a splendid view of the ruins with both indoor and outside seating.
I went into the restaurant side for lunch when visiting the ruins of the Temples, what a nice place inside, the staff are all smartly dressed and offer an excellent service, the food and the house white wine were also great, the waiter offered me a gluten free bread roll when I said I couldn't eat the normal bread, it was so good I asked for a 2nd, I wish I could buy bread like that in supermarkets, great place highly recommended. remember you need your ticket if you're going back into the temples
The restaurant was located at the entry to the site of the old ruins. thankfully the restaurant is not one of those quick fast food type that you would normally find at tourist sites. the menu is broad and each selection appeared to be worth a shot. I tried the sea bass main and couldn't help trying the buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and basil dish you will never ever forget this one.
