Bidrage med feedback12/17/2021 I'm feeling a bit of buyer's remorse after my visit. The boneless chicken quarter I ordered was drier than a week-old piece of roadkill from West Texas. Not one to give up easily, I chopped it up and covered it with Sweet Baby Ray's sauce to make it more palatable. I also mixed in the onions and crumbled corn muffin with the bland beans and tossed some pickles into the slaw to add a little excitement to the tasteless sides. The sausage link tasted more like a grainy hotdog than anything else. However, I did enjoy the wet brisket. The only reason we came here was because others had raved about your tamales. I guess my mistake was that no one had mentioned the BBQ. I took a chance, and it didn't pay off. I'm relieved I didn’t automatically leave a tip. Lesson learned!
The brisket was absolutely delicious, with a wonderful crust that's tender and juicy. The turkey was fantastic as well! My group really enjoyed the chicken, ribs, and beans too. The sides were good, but they weren't as exciting as the main dishes—just average, though still tasty. Plus, they had amazing tamales from Holly Tamales!
Today, I was cooking at home but realized I needed some potato salad and didn’t have time to make my own. So, I decided to make a quick trip to Bow Hunters. I'm so glad I did! Not only did I get my potato salad, but they also have amazing homemade cookies and brownies that I couldn’t resist grabbing a couple of. And it gets even better—while I was there, I spotted a jar of hot salsa next to the brownies that looked really tempting. Normally, I wouldn’t buy hot sauce since I make my own, which I think is pretty great... haha. As luck would have it, the owner and creator of that hot sauce was there and overheard my conversation. She was incredibly nice and showed me all the fresh varieties she had just made, canned, and brought to sell. I happened to be out of my own salsa and didn’t have the time to make more, so I decided to give her red salsa a try and ended up leaving with three different kinds! They are all delicious, and I’ll admit that her red salsa can stand up to mine, which is a big deal for me since I've spent years perfecting my recipe! So definitely go for the fantastic BBQ (and jerky), but be sure not to miss out on their homemade desserts and salsa while you're there!
I tried their original beef jerky and was very disappointed. The portion was tiny for the $10 price tag, and it tasted like really tough leather. I couldn't even swallow it and had to spit it out. It was definitely a waste of money.
We visited the restaurant three times, for both lunch and dinner. Unfortunately, each time they were out of nearly everything on the menu, so we ended up going elsewhere. We won't be returning.
