Aj's Dining Room Lounge - Canso

While my food was hot and cooked, I got sour cream with my mozzarella sticks. 2nd time I ordered chicken and a poutine of the poutine was best mediocre and my chicken tasted freezer burned. Staff and service were very friendly, but the food was missing.

Time to visit. Enjoy 10 scallops with onion rings. Very good, not greasy. Hubby had Vegi Pizza- also very good. We also loved the crust of pizza

We were staying in Guysborough for two weeks and on one of our tours we went through Canso. It was lunch time so we decided to stop into AJ's for a bite to eat. Great service and prices. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They made us feel welcomed. My wife had the 10 scallops and onion rings and thoroughly enjoyed them. Jan stated that they were lightly breaded, not greasy and were the best that she has ever had. Me being a vegetarian, I had the vegetarian pizza. Great taste and the crust was the best that I have had in a long time. Jan took a couple of pieces and enjoyed them as well. Jan never eats the crust but devoured this crust this time. Not doughy at all more like a crusty roll. We are from Ontario and really enjoyed this food experience. The washrooms were clean and stocked. A nice down-home environment. I only wish that AJ's was in our home town. Definitely made our day. Too bad that we discovered AJ's at the end of our vacation, otherwise, we would have returned.

This is the only restaurant in town! We visited for lunch and were served by one girl who took our orders, cooked, and served us. The majority of the dishes were deep-fried, except for the pizza which was baked. We ordered the fish and chips, which were a bit overcooked and the fish pieces were small, but we were hungry so we managed to eat it. The girl worked diligently and was very friendly!
