Restaurant La Plage-Gray d'Albion Barriere

We booked a table here for 9 and we were all delighted by the food and service ! There is a wide range to choose from so everyone is sure to find something they will enjoy ! After eating, we got sun beds, had a swim and drinks ! Great location and kid friendly ! They also provide a water sports service, we went out on the fly fish and had great fun ! The children were also able to take part !!Great food, great staff, highly recommend!

The place is great for the views. Service was also very friendly and attentive. Unfortunatelly the foos was not good. All three main dishes were average to poor. So next time will try another of plage restaurants.

Well Cannes is by any standard a delightful place to vacation, the establishments at front row of the sea water in general are well catered to fulfill anyone's desires... Some may be more appealing than others.. but La Plage-Gray d' Albion... just had a special something.... is it the Giraffe at the entrance..... not really I think is the relaxed vibe with the seating options Ibiza style where a delightful lunch may be enjoyed. The beach are seemed very well appointed as well and if it wasn't because our ship was sailing just a couple of hours later, we would have tried the chaise longs... We were a family of 4 2 adults and 2 little kids for lunch.... Service was extremely friendly and accommodating, we were super comfy, and the menu had an ample array of options. When food started arriving... the experience was confirmed.... delectable dishes all presented at top level and exquisite flavours to match.... throughout the meal the service continued to be great.... it seemed that everything was perfect ...... until I chose to pay with an int'l credit card (master card from US) ..... for all that don't know yet.... all throughout Europe if you use a Visa, MC or Amex that is US based hence in US dollars. when paying the POS will always prompt you to decide if you want your own bank or credit card issuer to apply its exchange rate or if you agree to the amount that appears already with the exchange rate as reflected. everyone that has been around knows that this is a quasi-scam... people may tend to choose to pay in US dollars a set "known" amount in fear of high conversion rates by your bank.... nonesense... your bank will apply a customary conversion rate that 9 out of 10 times is less than the ones proposed at the time of payment in US dollars. So by default you should always check but quite likely you should go for the payment in Euros and allow your own bank to apply the conversion. In my case my credit card does not apply any charges when paying in foreign currencies... that means that I always choose the payment in Euros knowing that my bank will not apply any hikes on the conversion rate....... Well guess what.... after having used my credit card hundreds of times in mora than 20 different countries and hundreds of establishments..... this restaurant's credit card processing software does not allow you to select the currency you wish to get charged and automatically defaults in charging in the US currency with a conversion rate hike..... I approached Olivier the Manager who was sincerely polite and apologetic, though he acknowledge that this was not the first time.... he assured me that this is an issue with the software programming.... and not an effort to get more money from clients..... Be it as it may..... and when compared to hundreds of other establishments....a Restaurant belonging to such a fine establishment such as the Hotel Grey d'Albion should have never permitted this system to run in the first place and this should have been immediately addressed at the 1st complaint from the 1st concerned customer.... If they had done it.... then you wouldn't be reading about it.Now the dilema is.... Would I go again there....? Yes but Would I go there again knowing their lack of attention to this detail, probably I would dare venturing into the many other establishments right next to them with also very inviting offerings..... Yes I know I could avoid this hassle altogether just by paying in cash.... but guess what.... there is this feeling of getting pushed around and taken advantage off that wouldn't allow me to fully enjoy the experience.... so probably I Wouldn't go.again, unless someone took notice of this situation and fix it....though the likelihood of that happening or even getting informed of such change... does not seem likely. I hope they prove me wrong , they fix it and they reply with an answer.... because all they offered was A-# and at a very reasonable rate.

Great view, right on the beach. I didn't eat, but it's the perfect place to soak up the sunset and have a sundowner.

Every time we stop by Cannes, we go to LaPlage and it's always a great moment! The service is perfect with a welcoming manager. All the staff make sure you have everything you need, and it's nice to see some waiters smiling on La Côte d'Azur. You must try the "Loup grillé" and the homemade café gourmand!
