The Chicken Shop

Had a late supper from this place last night. Most of the popular chicken options were already sold out but tried the 1/4 chicken with a salad. Chicken cooked perfect and soft opted for the lemon and herb flavor. Salad was delicious probably the best salad we had. Half green half green bean salads

I always come to the chicken shop and I don’t even buy chicken here. The side orders and the salads are so great by the time I’m done with them I don’t have space for chicken. Great well priced food.

Went there to get takeaways for supper (I personally feel the ambience is more for taking food away than it is for sitting down and enjoying a meal). I ordered 2 lemon and herb 1/4 chickens, one with chips, the other with salad. I also ordered buttermilk chicken, but this was only eaten the following day so a review wouldn't really be fair, but it was enjoyed. The 1/4 chickens were very tender and flavourful. The chips were fine, nothing spectacular, just regular chips, but none were undercooked, which is great, as this can often be a problem when the chips are being made as you order them and the staff rush to get the food to you. The salad (butternut and feta) was really good, except that the skin had been left on the butternut, which I don't like, and I had to cut it off each piece before eating. For the cost, the portion I received was worth it, particularly the salad, as this is often where establishments similar to this one fall short. Whilst I wouldn't go here weekly (a bit too pricey with a whole chicken costing R150 and there being cheaper full chicken options available), the tender, tasty chicken and, more importantly, the variety of quality hot and cold side dishes make this my first choice out of the chicken restaurants in Cape Town.
