Sumo Grill - Calgary

I usually have to wait around in the evening after the mall has closed. I have been to this restaurant twice and the one person working up front is the nicest woman I have ever met! She's kind and always 'on'. I am so impressed...More

We ate there for a late lunch one mid-week day and the meal was going smoothly until a well-meaning but inexperienced waitress whipped past my table asking if it was all right to remove my dish, snatched the dish without waiting for an answer, even before I could call her back, she was gone. With it my wasabi and ginger. I was still eating. One of my pet peeves, inexperienced staff who interrupt conversation to ask inane questions, who take away my plate before I am done. For heaven's sake, leave your diners to eat in peace! We've eaten at Sumo Grill many times. Most of the time the service is lackadaisical and unimpressive. Don't they train them? No tip! They apologized as I left the restaurant, but I was completely unimpressed by then.

Slow and rude services. ordered a ramen and two pieces hamachi shashime. two pieces over cook dry meat. over cook stale half boil egg. ramen is same quality as instant noodle. they did not even cut a full slice of shashime. for me but jut cut the tip of the fillet which was about the same size as my finger nail. never never border getting near it again

We've been to Sumo Grill in the Sunridge Mall many times and were well looked after by Ana our favorite Sever. We'd noticed that portions had gotten weak on meat and heaver on the mushrooms for the Terriki Chicken over several visits but decided to stop in while Christmas shopping. The Lunch Binto Box lunch price had gone up a buck to $13.25 but the meat portion went up as well. Always ask for extra Terriki sauce if ordering a Terriki dish and ask for a side of Pickled Ginger. It's well worth a extra dollar. Also if you can, try to get in Ana's section during weekdays. She's fast, pleasant and makes you feel at home.

They remember me when I arrive, good service & good Japanese cuisine always go when on that side of the city.
