Bidrage med feedbackI used to go to the old location when it was still a hole in the wall on 17th street. I have been to Song Huong a few times since they moved, and to be honest, it just don't taste like the old place anymore. Don't take me wrong, they are still very good, but there is just a difference and I can't really explain that feeling.I have a few go to dishes: Clam Noodle, Dumpling (without the banana leaf), BBH, and the Spring roll. The Clam Noodle is unique, and not served at a lot of other Vietnamese restaurants. I have been to a few other restaurant that serves clam noodle, but Song Huong has it right. Their sauce is thicker, and the noodle is not as soggy. Their sauce is done just right, and the amount of clam is also perfect. Word of advice, keep stirring the bowl while you are eating, or you will be left with too much clam at the end.The spring rolls, is exceptional and it appears to be using the rice roll skin, which I believe is the same one they wrap salad rolls in. the spring roll is extra crispy, and it is a must try. Dumplings is amazing, I usually ask for extra dry onion on the side. It is chewy, and I think the banana leaf is over kill. the regular dumpling taste slightly better and not as moist as the version wrapped in banana leaf.Overall, Song Huong is my no.1 and go to places for Vietnamese food fix. I would recommend this restaurant people who wants something more than the ordinary Vietnamese experience.
Due to rising coronavirus concerns, the Kokuho rose rice I buy at Superstore was sold out. L and I decided to make the trek up to True World Foods for Koshihikari Homare rice. Since we were minutes away from Song Huong, one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants, we stopped by for lunch. Since Albertans are still reeling from a hell of a lot of bad news (e.g. health care and education cuts, stocks and oil prices plummeting) let’s listen to something calming. For this post, I’ll play “Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 61:1” by composer Ludwig van Beethoven.
Broth was good, but the meat quality was subpar. Salad was very tasty though rolls use the legit rice paper wrap! Good quantities overall. (4/5)
After reading the reviews I walked to here from my hotel. I had to order the rare beef salad because everyone was raving about it and it was AMAZING!! My kind of salad! Staff was great too and the pho was good: I would recommend
