Bidrage med feedbackWe visited the Bannister Rd. location on a recommendation. I have to say the food was delicious!!A few things I was unimpressed with:1) The service was, well there really wasn't any, besides taking the order and delivering our food. We actually got up to get our own cutlery. We also had to ask for our beverages after placing the order.2) although the food is good, it could be great if they purchased a higher quality of meat. The lamb that my son ordered was so good, but a lot of fat; little meat. My chicken was really delicious!3) this restaurant has tons more potential. I plan to return, and hope to see improvements to their service! Overall a great, little restaurant!
My wife and I went here on the recommendation of a family member. Fabulous! We enjoy good curries and always strive to find authentic eateries, this is one. We will be returning and will be friends and other family members. Raj Palace is small inside, it seats about 30-38. The hostess/server was informative, the atmosphere is relaxed. The description "The Authentic South Indian Cuisine" is is very accurate. They will cater to you Heat level. They got ours perfect! We enjoyed the chicken vapudu, coconut rice, coconut prawn curry, dal Panchratna, and an order of garlic naan. See you there.
Excellent food and very good service. the staff is very friendly. the best indian food in calgary. pls try you will not regret
One of the few Indian restaurants that give a decent portion of lamb, beef or chicken BUT the meat is poor quality and very fatty. Great Naan, flavourful curries and sauces unfortunately don't make up for the meat. Restaurant was not clean, tables and chairs stained and unkempt. Cluttered bar with kitchen goods and shelving in the entrance way.Midnapore location.
Let me clarify something important: there are 3 Raj Palaces in Calgary, but i will be directing this review at the one that's in the middle of a strip-mall complex in the Country Hills and Harvest Hills estates sub-divisions. It's a little hard to find but using google maps to locate it is well worth the effort. The cook and his wife are part owners of this edition of Raj Palace, and in my opinion is by far the best. (As well, they don't try to squeeze more out of anyone's wallet as does the one in the Royal Oaks district.)Now to the food. Indian food is in my opinion by far the most flavourful food in the world, but like many things in life, the care and generosity of the restaurant helps us find the best places. Raj Palace in this location does this so very well.Try the Chettinadu lamb or chicken curry. Not only do the 16 or more spices suffuse the flavour across the spectrum of delightful flavors across your palate, but their basmati rice (some enhanced with other spices) and wonderfully light naan bread will take you to 'Indian heaven'. Of course the lamb is greatly enhanced with a little red wine by the glass. The chicken tikka is wonderfully light, moist, flavorful and tender. It will go well with your favorite rice and dahl, and perhaps a nice white wine. This tikka might also persuade you to order a whole tandoori chicken for take-out.The cook may come out of his kitchen to ask how it is, and his front service wife will warm up to your enquiries once you express your love for good Indian fare. As these folks are very warm, please don't be shy.Yes, there are a great number of good Indian restaurants in Calgary: some are dreadful and should be closed immediately (a couple with buffets on 16th Avenue (Highway 1) are to be avoided like the plague), some are very good (like Tandoori Take-out), but others, as reviewed here and elsewhere are so very very wonderful. Check out THIS Raj Palace with confidence. It should take you back repeatedly.
