Bidrage med feedbackWe were looking for an patio in the Kensington area on a warm summer night. We found the Oak Tree Tavern and its upper and lower patios. We headed upstairs, found a spot and were pleasantly surprised when the server brought us the $5 menus. Beers for $5 and Food for $5? Though a couple of the beers were no longer available there were sufficient others to try (the Peach Wheat Ale from Vancouver was a perfect suggested drink). The chicken burger was the best food item - juicy with nice char marks; the Tavern burger had lots of garnishes but the meat was thin and a bit dry; the deep fried pickles were worth the visit; the curry fries however, were really only a gravy with some garam masala added to it and then poured on some non crispy fries. The patio itself was great - lots of room; no music so we could talk (though there were outdoor speakers;) nice tables with umbrellas. We had a very good server, he made sure we were all looked after - and he had to hustle as he was the only server for the patio. Nice job.
On the spur of the moment, we arrived on a Thursday evening during the Calgary Stampede. There were a few spots left on the upper patio, so we sat outside on a very, very hot evening. The sun beat in pretty directly, but we could have been seated inside if we wished. Inside was just a simple pub, that appeared to have live music on certain nights. It's also worth noting that there are 16 not-perfectly-level stairs up required to enter the pub...so definitely not for people with accessibility issues.Dinner was Steak Night Burger (absolutely delicious), vegan burger (lots of protein, very tasty) and beer braised chicken salad. The service was not what I would call particularly attentive but, when we required and requested something, it arrived fairly quickly.Apparently,I've been told, their drink specials are worth investigating. So, not a world-class review, but I think we'd go back for nothing more than the relaxing atmosphere the good food.
Went there with my hubby on a rainy day pub crawl. We used to go there way back in the day when it used to be Tullamore Pub. It has the same authentic cosy Irish pub feel that we love. The old fashioned wood stove is still there on the little stage in the back. We only had pints so I can't speak to the food, although I hear it's good too. Our waitress was very friendly and good. ❤️
We had not seen reviews just happened to walk by. Beautiful day and saw the patio. Wonderful second level patio in the sun on a cool day. The food exceeded expectations. Had something I had never seen on menu before "dill pickle soup". Was very nice! The device was engaged and friendly as well. Keep doing what you are doing? The decor is tavern and pub style so go with that in mind.
Small little pub with lots of atmosphere. We were in Calgary and saw it on "You gotta Eat here" We always try to check out places from the food network shows wherever we go, so on Sunday night we headed sown after our trade show ended. What a treat! There was a Celtic jam going on and we sipped a craft beer while we tapped our toes and waited for our food. Let's just say that it was so good, that we went back at 11am the next day before heading home, to try some other items on the menu!
