Unlike many newer places that are 'Yuppie ' frequented, this is an older, neighborhood restaurant. As such, the interior is basic but the food good, the service very good, and the prices more reasonable. Eggs Benedict and coffee with tip was about $6. less than I had recently paid elsewhere. If you want a basic breakfast and are in the area, this would be a good choice. There is free parking on the street.

This cute spot is completely run by a family. The service was friendly and the food was filling and delicious! The favorite dishes my family tried was their breakfast poutine and French toast. Their bacon was thick and delicious!

There's nothing mind-blowing about John's, but sometimes that's not what you're looking for. The humble surroundings might lead you to think that the food will be average at best, and that's where the pleasant surprise is. John's Breakfast delivers some really well put-together dishes, especially the breakfast poutine. Nothing tastes old or stale, and it's all cooked quite well. The service is also pleasant and friendly, and I suspect that it's a family operation, but done right. The kids are front of house while the parents work the back, and it results in a really good experience. It might get cramped with all of the people waiting for a table, but that's a sign that you're in a worthwhile place.
