Five Guys - Calgary

First of all they put a press on the meat when it's cooking so there's absolutely zero juice or taste left. They only have processed cheese, they don't have cheddar, the music was so loud that we couldn't carry on a conversation (it's not a night club) and had to leave and eat in the car so we could chat as we ate, and although the condiments they offer are great, I don't go for the bun and condiments, I go for the whole package of a complete burger.

In a competitive market you have to stand out - this outlet has gained a loyal following who want a to order burger and fresh cut fries (not frozen) - can eat in or take away

You'd like my #1 at this place. Kayla. What a sharp young lady. I love it when cashiers catch on that I am teasing and know just how far to go in giving it back. Not only that, Kayla took my special order and later went out of her way to come to our table to see if my special order was satisfactory. She did not have to do that. I commend her.You'd like my #2 at this place: good burgers, properly prepared and presented, and great fries. 5Gs can teach Mickey Dees and KFC a few things about fries. You won't like my #3: loud music. What's with that? Trying to chase us away or trying to encourage us to eat faster so you can pump more customers through? Hardly, it was past the noon rush.And my perennial complaint about 5Gs: those all-American clippings (posters) from U.S. publications extolling the wondrous glories of 5Gs. I share an amazing discovery with the 5Gs PR department: there are food writers in Canada (that land to the north) and there are publications that publish food reviews in Canada (that distant land to the north). Will you guys please get a life?

Atmosphere is your standard five guys location. Great place to go if you are in a hurry and want to build your own burger. Ordered the cheeseburger with grilled mushrooms, onions and jalopinos with a touch of mayo. Prices are reasonable.

A quick late night snack was a bit more than I needed but it was still very tasty. The burgers are large and the fries are excellent. Great selection of toppings - would love to come back (when I'm in Calgary next)
