Al Forno Cafe & Bakery - Calgary

Was initially a little skeptical to visit this cafe after reading a few negative reviews.

Came here because they're open later than most bakery-type places in downtown so we thought we'd try it out.

This is an upscale cafe, but I get feeling they have restaurant dreamsThe staff are snooty and rude to a point where it is insulting.

I love carbs. Bread, bread and more bread. Heaven to me looks and smells like Alforno.Long weekend are made for enjoying a special treat like going out for breakfast and I had waited a few long weekends to make it to Alforno. It was just as lovely as I thought it would be in my dreams. White and bright inside, with a variety of seating options (we took the patio), service was quick for drinks and food. My London fog was 16 oz. of pure bliss to start off my carb loading.I ordered the ricotta hotcakes with lemon curd, blueberry compote, hazelnut, warm maple syrup. My dining companion choose the Canadian Eggs Benedict with back bacon, green onion , poached organic eggs & side greens. Neither of us were disappointed and neither of us wanted to share. I got a cheese crossiant to go and if it wouldn't be considered loitering, I gladly would have sat there all day and ordered lunch. Looking forward to the next long weekend I can return and try another tasty dish at Alforno.

Great atmosphere, delicious eggs Benny , amazing bread, and beautiful pastries. Italian. Everything top notch beautiful quality and mouthwatering. Server was helpful and accommodating. Took a few minutes for them to wait on our table and get coffee .
