The Rodney - Caldwell

This place is just perfect! We stopped for lunch the day after the Aggies lost to ND and had a great meal, with our pups, in the ideal setting for a sleepy Sunday lunch hour!

I ordered DoorDash and they wouldn’t bring my food . So they came and delivered it to me . My food was awesome thank yall . I will buy again .

It’s important to note that dining is outdoors only. There is a huge, covered patio with several industrial fans blowing, which made for a mostly comfortable visit even in 92F heat. Small play area for kids under the shade of trees. There were lots and lots of flies buzzing around, landing all over us and our food/drinks, but I know that can’t be helped much outdoors. Food was very good- menu was limited and didn’t match what we saw online but everything was fresh. The homemade ranch was delicious! Very happy that a high chair was available for our 1-year-old but would have appreciated a changing table in the restroom. Overall, a nice spot with good food and a relaxed vibe.

A couple of us flew in to the Caldwell Airport for gas and we were hungry. No Uber, no Taxi’s in this small TX town. What to do? Google showed us a couple places to eat in town and based on reviews, we called “The Rodney”. Wow! One of the owners dropped what he was doing and drove out to the airport and gave us a ride to his restaurant. The food and atmosphere were EXCELLENT! Everything is homemade, so don’t expect fast food speed. Not to worry, the small wait is very worth it. After our delicious meals, the owner drove us back to the airport. We tried to tip him for gas money and he wouldn’t take it. He and his wife were super friendly and wanted to make sure we brought more of our aviator friends to town the next time we get hungry for a lunch or dinner flight.

Quaint little place in a highway town. Make this your food choice if you are passing through. Simply unique, and delicious.
