Waterfront Seafood Shack - Calabash

The seafood is incredibly fresh, and the scallop sandwich and pasta salad were both excellent. The view overlooking the water is fantastic. I was so impressed that I wanted to return the very next day.

I opted for the fried flounder and shrimp combo with fries, while my husband had coleslaw and hush puppies. For just a dollar more, I added the fried corn. Let me tell you, you absolutely HAVE TO TRY the fried corn! I got it for my husband but couldn't resist sneaking a few bites. The flounder was perfectly cooked – a nice-sized, thick filet that was juicy inside. Our server mentioned it's the whole side of the fish, and he wasn't kidding – so delicious! The shrimp was also great, lightly battered and cooked to perfection. My husband got the Mahi sandwich, which didn’t come with sides unless you added them, so he ended up snagging some of my fries and corn. My meal was MORE THAN ENOUGH for me!

I decided to try this restaurant based on the Google reviews, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was very welcoming for pets!

During my first visit, I ended up cleaning the shrimp myself, which gave me a newfound respect for anyone who does that regularly! On my second visit, I decided to pay an extra $2.00 per pound to have them cleaned, and it made the experience much more enjoyable. For this trip, I didn't go out on the boat or try their prepared food, but I definitely plan to do both in the future. The staff were fantastic to chat with—friendly, helpful, and I really enjoyed our conversations. If you find yourself in Calabash, I highly recommend making a stop here!

Highly recommend! Our waitress was very nice and recommended menu items. Very affordable price for the portion size. Great waterfront view. Because it was time for a charter boat to go out, there was a crowd around the restaurant but we were seated immediately and had a very short wait for our food.
