I had the calamari for a deer and lamb back beat as main, the lamb was perfectly cooked and so tender. the vegies were delish and the sose that went with her sooo yumm. adam had the prawn that I also got to try, and I usually don't like so much, but they had a nice taste on them and he had the chicken pasta dish, a lot of taste and tender bun. it is hard to find a restaurant with excellent, friendly service and where the food is so worth the price u pay. I would highly recommend this place and I will return! many thanks for a wonderful experience. the world of
The sirocco restaurant is located within the Holiday Inn where we were staying. The breakfast buffet offers a variety of options for everyone, though it may be a bit expensive compared to what we are used to. The main menu is outstanding, with delicious food and wine. However, the highlight of our dining experience was the exceptional staff, particularly Jovelyn who served us during every meal. She was a delight to dine with and displayed professionalism even when dealing with difficult customers. The manager also provided top-notch service. We highly recommend dining at Sirocco for the great food and friendly staff - we were very satisfied with both aspects.
Located inside the Holiday Inn, Sirocco promotes itself as a Mediterranean restaurant. I came here with my partner and had a lukewarm experience. Firstly, in it's advertising (used the cairns local entertainment book) it promotes itself as on the corner of the esplanade, presumably to...attempt to claim waterfront dining. However it is only really accessible from the Abbott street side, making it impossible to get to from the esplanade. Secondly it doesn't state it is located inside the holiday inn which can be a little confusing. Once inside you really can't get beyond the fact it is a hotel restaurant and the atmosphere reflects this. It is not a formal place and despite being promoted as a Mediterranean restaurant, the menu seems a little generic. The value and quality of the meals is ok but the atmosphere, combined with the difficulty of getting inside the place make the whole thing an average experience for me.
The oysters are not fresh enough but acceptable. The squid pasta was the most mushy pasta I had in my life. You might need to use your tooth for the seafood but not the pasta. My friend could not feel the rice in her risotto....The service was very nice and the by-the-glass wine list was nice with reasonable price.
As we were staying at the Holiday Inn we had dinner at Sirocco's with others that we were there with. The staff at this restaurant certainly made our evening an enjoyable experience. They were just so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble...as we had other people join us when they just arrived in cairns and checked in and the staff took their orders quickly to try and get their meals out at the same time as ours. The food was great with a choose of all meats and seafood. The portion size was really good for all meals, so much so that we didn't think we could fit dessert but ended up having dessert which was great also. Would recommend Sirocco to anyone visiting Cairns
