Papa Nino's Pizza - Buxton

Fantastic crust! It's beautifully thin and perfectly crunchy, straight from a stone oven. Having lived on this island for 19 years after moving from Philadelphia, I can confidently say this is the best pizza I’ve had here. For dessert, I highly recommend the funnel friars; they remind me of enjoying funnel cake at the carnival. I’ve also tried the white pizza with my choice of toppings, such as meatballs and gravy, which was excellent. If you're in the mood for a deliciously thin Italian pizza crust, this is definitely the place to visit!

I had a BLT yesterday before my family and I left to head back to Pennsylvania. We really didn't want to leave the Outer Banks, but we had to. The BLT was absolutely delicious! My parents ordered burgers, which they also said were fantastic, and the fries were great too. My sister and her family got pizza, and they thought it was really good. The young woman who served us was very friendly. We will definitely be stopping by again when we return to the OBX next year!

First food delivery of 2017: Flounder Basket from Giovanni's. I give it 5 out of 5! (It also came with a generous serving of coleslaw.) I hope they have a successful season!

Here's the short version: I love Papa Nino's! Now the long version: I'd stumbled across this neat little place on my first trip to Hatteras as I was starving, and had a craving for pizza. Well, the buffet has a wide variety of toppings, and if you want something specific, just ask, and they'll make it for you. And it's not just pizza. You also have choices like wings, salad, and even little tacos (I'm not sure if they still have these, but I sure hope so). Anyway, the food is very good, the prices are more than fair, and the service is top notch. Even though I'm only able to get to Papa Nino's a couple of times a year (it's about a 5 hour trip 1-way for me to get there, requiring not only a drive, but 2 ferry rides), the staff always remembers me! I'll be spending some more time in the Outer Banks this June, and looking forward to having lunch there at least 2 of the 3 days I'll be in the area!
