Bidrage med feedbackHad my retirement dinner here for 25 people in a separate room. Everything was excellent. Dominique took care of all the details and everything went exactly as planned. Service and food were excellent. Fantastic evening. Couldn't have asked for it to have gone any better.Would strongly recommend the Stonehouse for any event.
My friends and I visited Stone House Restaurant on Friday, August 11. It was a celebration as well as a couples' night. I had made a reservation for 6 the night before for 7:30pm. There was no wait when we arrived and my date and I were seated right away. The rest of the party arrived shortly afterwards. The server we had was excellent. I don't remember her name, but she was great. Attentive, but not overly attentive to the point of annoyance. She was very knowledgable about the menu. She was also very friendly and open to any questions we had about menu items. There were many great choices on the menu. Everything was fairly priced. There was also a prix fixe menu for $39.95 that included a starter, entree and mini dessert which was a great option too. Half the table went with the prix fixe (Moroccan lamb shank, chicken supreme and beef medallions over pasta) while the rest of the table (including myself) ordered the seafood paella. My best friend and I are obsessed with paella and always want to try it at different places. The place that had the best paella around here has since closed, so we're still searching for places that have good paella. The food came quickly. Those of us who ordered paellas didn't get starters because we knew how full we would be. The prix fixe crew started off with either salad or baked brie in phyllo pastry. We didn't mind waiting because we had hot bread with red pepper hummus and oil & vinegar at the table to start anyways. Entrees came and looked fantastic. I tried my date's lamb and it was delicious. My paella was very yummy too. My only criticism about the paella was how mushy it was. It kind of was like a risotto texture, which I'm not used to, but nonetheless, it was tasty. If you were to compare this paella to its sister restaurant, Lake House, Lake House's paella takes it, but like I said, still very tasty. After our entrees, it was time for mini desserts. They were presented in super cute shot glasses. I got the blueberry parfait that was made with coconut milk. Since I can't have high fat dairy, I was happy to be able to partake in the dessert round as well. It was delicious. I washed it down with some lemon and honey in hot water (anyone with nausea issued like me can attest that this concoction is great). We settled up the bills and made our way out. Before we left, I had asked the girl at the front desk if she could take a group picture for us and she was more than happy too which was great. Overall, great date night at Stone House Restaurant. Great atmosphere, clean washrooms, great service, and great food. We were all happy with the choice to come celebrate here and I recommend it for anyone who wants a nice dinner out for whatever occasion.
We made reservations, although didn't seem necessary which was surprising on a Friday evening, we ended up sitting on the patio as it was a beautiful night. Most of the evening was pretty standard. Food and wine order was taken and brought, nothing out of the ordinary. The paella was OK, which was surprising because we've had it at the Lake House and it was phenomenal. The skillet however was amazing. If we return we will definitely have it again. Here is what influenced my rating. The service. We felt rushed by our server. We ordered coffee and dessert and got the coffee long before the dessert, but maybe that was logistics. However as soon as we did, we saw him bring over the bill and the debit machine and place it on the table next to us? We found this incredibly rude. A few minutes go by he walks over, looks over our table without saying a word and leaves, once in a while we see him just look over the table. We had enough and said "if you can bring the bill please?" which of course he did right away, it was 2 steps away. Keep in mind we were NOT there for hrs and hrs, our reservation was at 6:30 and we left by 8pm.A waitress serving another couple that showed up just before we left was doing so with sunglasses on! I was in the service industry for numerous years and patio or not, which BTW just before 8pm the sun has mostly gone down, this is just not acceptable courteous service.Considering the numerous options for somewhat the same food, not certain that we'll return.
My husband and I come here when we feel like Lake House is too far of a drive. The service is great, reminds me of a more upscale Keg. The food is amazing quality and I have never ordered something I didn't like. I HIGHLY recommend you try Shrimp and Lobster Mac and Cheese, it is seriously to die for. Only negative thing is I wish they were open on Sundays!
2nd time to this restaurant within 2 months & would go again! We celebrated an anniversary dinner & love the atmosphere here. The white linen & atmosphere are well worth the trip. The wait staff are knowledgeable & extremely attentive. Then menu has something for every appetite and if you require a substitution - no problem. We started off with a 9 oz red wine & draft beer followed by crab cakes & spicy shrimp for appetizers. These are so good! The main course was an 8oz filet for myself & rack of lamb for the hubby. The medium filet was under cooked & rare in the middle. Butt the taste was sumptuous & it cut like butter. My husband said the lamb was cooked perfectly & delicious. The waitress brought out a piece of cheesecake to share courtesy of the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered the peach crumble & lattes after dinner. The dessert was just OK. We never felt rushed during any course & spent 2.5 hours over the course of the meal. The total bill before tip was $190CAD.bottom line - appetizees & main course outstanding... desserts a hit & miss.
