The slightly fried fish ala plancha with green salad was also delicious. You have to wait for the boss/owner to... Dinner especially provided for you. The service was perfect, and the price was appropriate for the high quality food. If you don't like the food, I suggest you go to a restaurant that serves previously prepared food.
When on Sabbatical in Newcastle on Tyne my children and I were invited to dinner every Friday night. I decided to keep the tradition on my solo Sabbatical in Buenos Aires. So last night I went to Ostara Bistró. Since I was there before 20:30, I had to choose from the lunch menu, which is not very appealing for dinner. I had homemade sausages with fauch chucrut y tortilla de papas . The sausages were delicious, but they were 2 of the same kind, so the taste was somewhat overwhelming. The criminal wasn't good. The tortilla was thin, but very good. I'd put the record in a different way. The Dijon Senf and the Alioli were near the tortilla, instead of the sausages. For dessert I had the special. It's disappointing. I was told about some kind of coconut flour with toffee sauce. It was just a normal flan with some coconut waste. The place is clean, simple, but cozy. The guy responsible for the service is very nice. I'll give the place a second chance. Next time I'll be there after 8:30.
We were tired of loud and lively places so we stopped in Ostara and it was perfect! Great service and good food. Mom and Pop are feeling.
I went to Ostara at 9:30. We were the only two customers in place at least until after 10:30. The place is OK not to look for ambience. Attention is Ok, the typical Porteño snapped out sick-humored posture. Eating was really bad. The only thing I really enjoyed was the Campary drink and the potato bomb both compliment of the house. For the beginning I ordered the buñuelos: they were dry and tasteless, the empanada of my wife was fine, but I have eaten better in every stand or pizzeria. My main course was Ravioli: too small and without filling – pure Dau (the sauce was ok). My wife had the fish of the day: it was well cooked, but again Bland and with bones (for Porteños cleaning fish is a big company, or rather things without mistake to do is mission impossible). Dessert was a great disappointment: We asked for the apple cake with mascara ice cream. When you ask for pancakes I ask any decent joint in Buenos Aires, they are thin and full of taste, these were thick and worse than the aunt Jemima mixture: thick and salty. The ice cream was tasteless and its consistency was wrong. A Fiasco. Avoid this place unless you know the other places around them are even bad.
This bistro was spotless. It had been open only a few days when we dined here for lunch on September 29, 2015. It was cozy and very clean. It is ran by a cute young couple. The lunch specials were very reasonably priced and included...drinks and a desert, so it actually cost us much less than other spots in San Telmo and elsewhere in Buenos Aires. The food was very Argentine, but with a unique twist. Our group of six included three young children and they loved the food too. If you are visiting Buenos Aires, I highly recommend visiting the San Telmo area and eating at the Ostara Bistro.
