The Midland Stop - Buena Vista

My favorite drink is the Vienna! Its flavor is amazing and I love that it’s not overly sweet! The atmosphere is so cute inside but I especially love that it is right by the river so you can enjoy your drink by the water.

This is the best coffee shop! Every time we visit Colorado, we have to plan a visit to Buena Vista to visit The Midland Stop. Get the Midland Maple! Best coffee ever!!!

Ordered a cold brew. Girl poured in hot coffee over ice and by the time I got to my car all the ice was melted. Extremely disappointing

Alas, this great cornerstone of Buena Vista’s culture has fallen into disrepair and mediocrity. I was once in love with this pinnacle of hospitality and quality, but as the tide of new ownership has swept through, all recognition of this beautiful bastion of culture has been shattered. I am from Colorado Springs and would frequently come through BV on my way to other places, and would stop at Midland. It was a treat, a solid quality cappuccino in a mountain town of burnt espresso. No longer is this a place of pride, it is a place of shame and regret. Oh how the great have fallen. They now have two sizes of cappuccino, the single most telling mark of poor standards. My last stop at Midland was one of charm and bliss. I got a cappuccino and an affogato, and sat enjoying the beautiful location. Now I have stopped and been repulsed by the Cortado handed to me. We’ve all had burnt marshmallows before. Remember the smell, the taste. Imagine that you have placed a marshmallow into the fire, and even while it burns, you keep it there. You don’t pull it out, blow it off, and salvage the sweetness. No, you leave it there like a deranged blacksmith, until it is no more than a bitter black shell dangling on the end of your stick. Now you eat it, taste it. Mmmm, being a deranged individual, you enjoy it. Now imagine paying $5 for it. Is it still enjoyable, or are you deviant? If you make a stop at the Midland Stop, you will be able to experience the exact flavor of a charred marshmallow, but in liquid form, and for a premium price. Midland is no longer a place of dreams, but of nightmares.
