Bidrage med feedbackAs far as small town local diners go this place is awesome! I got the briars brunch burger with cole slaw and all of it was absolutely delicious and the prices aren't bad either. The staff is kind, attentive and over all just genuinely nice people. I definitely suggest this for family's, cute date nights and everything in between!
We were on our way to NC and came across this as an option for a good halfway point for lunch. The online reviews were great so we figured we'd give it a try even though we weren't sure what to expect. The waitstaff were all so friendly and accommodating and it definitely had the feel of a small town diner. We had 7 people and all ordered different things that we loved! The fries were delicious and the homemade house chips were warm and fresh. Burgers, chicken club, regular club, omelette and mozzarella sticks all got rave reviews from our gang. Next time I want to try a millshake. I bet they're delicious too!
At first it appeared to be a step back into the past, and in a way it was. The decor is vintage, but charming. The food is good, especially the homemade potato chips! Our waitress was incredibly sweet, kind and terrific. Special note: The rest room really is in the right!
So many places have closed due to the pandemic that we’ve found it challenging now that we’re taking road trips again to find good local places to dine. We were delighted to see this small cafe as we were driving through Buchanan, it was open and welcoming. Mostly local customers, so it felt “real” and we enjoyed the presence of a couple of fun characters that must be regulars. Food that we had was okay, not stellar but fine turnip greens too salty, tomato in the salad “not fit to eat, as my mother in law would say except the biscuits were perfect, light, not a bit greasy, served warm! It didn’t look like the type of place to order pizza, but we saw one ordered by a table of local people and it looked delicious. Decor is fun, lots of memorabilia (much Coca Cola stuff, including a life sized cutout of Santa with a Coke). Nice notes from happy customers and old articles under the glass on tabletops. Counter seats still closed to maintain distance between diners, though no one wore masks. There is an ice cream counter and unexpectedly a good selection of greeting cards! We would definitely return.
The exterior building sign still says Ransone 's Drug. The window signage reads 'The Buchanan Fountain and Grille ' who now operates the food service there. They serve breakfast all day. Since I was going canoeing with Twin River Outfitters, I had the Build Your Own Omelet with everything except the bacon and sausage. It comes with string hash browns which does not need ketchup, a biscuit, and a drink. All was excellent. My spouse chose the Grilled Chicken Salad, also excellent. Homestyle dinners, burgers, subs and pizza are on the menu. Seating is limited They also serve Hershey 's ice cream and old fashioned milk shakes and floats. Will come back for those.
