Bidrage med feedbackThere are three different types of plant-based milks available to mix with a variety of dark chocolate options at this restaurant. It's definitely worth a stop.
Of all the chocolate tearooms in Bruges, the Old Chocolate House is the one I would recommend the most. The chocolate preparation is unique and was a highlight of our day. There is a good variety of chocolate to choose from, with toppings like salted caramel and whipped cream available as well. The chocolate chips and toppings are served in a small chocolate cup, which you then dump into hot plant milk and stir. While the salted caramel topping was too sweet for our taste, the Aztek chocolate had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy with a hint of cinnamon. One cup of chocolate can be quite filling, as I found myself unable to finish mine. The milk was not as hot as I would have liked, which was a drawback that I should have reported. The atmosphere and interior of the tearoom were also highlights in themselves.
The café is located on the first floor above the shop. All of the dark hot chocolates are vegan if you choose to have them with a plant-based milk (soy, almond, or coconut). Unfortunately, the tables outside are only for takeout and there are no vegan options available. The staff is friendly.
Really the cutest place with the most delicious hot chocolate milk! The waffles were also very nice.
Essentially any of the dark chocolate options on the hot chocolate menu are vegan. We ordered two classic darks with almond milk and they were very tasty. They do charge €1.50 for plant milk per cup though which was a bit nuts. Two hot chocolates came out to €11. Was a nice treat to have once.
