Bidrage med feedbackStopped at motel after an 8 hour drive. Checked into room first then went for a bite to eat. Definitely not fancy… wasn’t too busy., but the service was very good. Kat was fun, bubbly and a pleasure. The kids were a bit reckless playing with the pool table balls…and a bit of a nuisance…but they soon left. Food was good…not a lot of choices, but it was cheap eats!
Staff are very friendly. I ordered a schnitzel on the bun but the meat smell weird. The ham and cheese sandwich is better.
I drove an extra 300 Kms. just to have dinner on once my favourite restaurant. There was only one couple at the bar when I arrived and the waiter served my beer very promptly. I was glad because I was going to have to drive another 250Km to Lively . Well the menu only showed 2 German dishes so I ordered the Bratwurst and Sauerkraut which came with French Fries!! It turned out that the waiter was also the cook and I waited 20 mins. for what turned out to be an overcooked hard sausage and Sauerkraut out of a jar or can. 4 more tables were filled while I was waiting and an elderly lady came to help take orders but the cook had to serve the drinks so he made many trips back to the kitchen. I had to wait 5 mins at the cash to pay for my dinner and left after an hour, less than satisfied.
Not so good. A lot of the meals served here are not prepared there. Violation of Canada's Health and Safety. Pizza bought prepared from Pino's in Sault Ste. Marie. The half chicken? Same. All he does is heat it up. The buttertarts? He buys from the Mennonites. Please be careful when eating there, as the staff do drink alcohol in the kitchen, while cooking. Where is the Algoma Health Unit?? He employs his son and sons girlfriendj, during the summer months and they return to Toronto in the fall and winter. No need to hire any of the locals. The locals will not tolerate being told to just use cash and not punch items in..... no need for the government to get more than their share!! Would not eat there or stay there. He is a crook, thief.
The proprietor is a hard working fellow who, on this day, was doing everything himself. He did a good job though and everybody in the place seemed satisfied. Don't let the exterior fool you. The dining/bar room is large and clean and inviting. I was skeptical about ordering the schnitzel but it was lovely. Hand made and served with sauteed mushrooms and onions, with a side of homemade coleslaw...delicious. The Jagermeister was also served cold in Bavarian shot glasses. Oh yah, you can get six canned beers in n an ice bucket for $20! This is a really decent place and I would eat and drink there again .
