Bidrage med feedbackDim sum in a bakery?! Yes! Good Family Bakery is an old school place with matching decor. Doesn 't look like much on the outside of the store either, but inside exists pretty good dim sum. Most of it is kept hot in a steamer cabinet. You can 't really see any of it so go in here with an idea of what you want. They just have the basics so don 't go looking for anything too exotic. Most people come in here for takeout. I had the shu mai and beef rice noodles. Both were good. It 's on par with local dim sum restaurants. Dishes are under $3. Shu mai competition! Did a side by side taste test with a local dim sum restaurant. Good Family 's version won out. Less fatty and better flavor. Besides dim sum, their baked goods are pretty good too. An all time favorite is 'paper bag ' cupcakes. These are huge. Also, on the counter, are old school pastries like red bean jelly cakes (hong dau gou). Sweet, chewy, squishy goodness! An old fashioned favorite. Seating: There are quite a few tables. Service: Efficient. Counter service only.
Besides the baked stuff (which I find mediocre), the dim sum here isn't half bad. Their shrimp eggplants are tasty. The round shrimp chive dumplings are one of my favorites. I did find the radish cakes to be hit-or-miss, some days amazing while others badly burnt and flavorless, which is a real bummer since they are another one of my favorite dim sum dishes. Aside from that, their fried noodles do make for a decent filling. Not the best I've had but satisfying nonetheless. Final verdict: An above average chinese bakery.
I don't usually by dimsum from a bakery but they definitely have some of my favorite items and it's always fresh, get the stuff eggplant, egg roll so meaty and crispy (most places is vegetable eggroll), the shrimp rice roll, the fried shrimp ball, and they also have rice roll spare ribs not to mention they also have a stir fried noodle section for those noodle lovers, and drinks are pretty good the hot milk tea and sometimes hot honey lemon tea are made just the way Iike it not overly sweet, it's a small bakery so sometimes there's a line but the ladies are not always rude at least not with me they get busy so they yell next or get frustrated when it's busy or when ur not ordering fast enough or taking too long to order, just come prepared, and you'll be in and out, enjoy!
Fresh bakery. The foods are all individually displayed on a separate plate for display with a label so we can order. Line moves fast. Good food good prices. They also sell fried noodles in the mornings.
