Crib Tin Cafe - Broken Hill

A non-pretentious meal served with friendliness and a bit of a chat. Were crib tins named from Commonwealth Ration packs, or from the miners playing crib at meal break in the cuddies? Who knows for sure, but there is a good collection in this café, and everybody will want to find one for themself to store Broken Hill memories in !

I normally get my coffees at that coffee window but I was walking past one day when you smell something nice cooking the CribTin it's was home some home-made pasties or something the woman in there told me anyway I have 1 cappuccino with hazelnut syrup and wow! it was the best really smooth and rich vary defining beautiful taste. love it!. and now i go there every day before I head off to TAFE

You may pass this cafe by in favour of the more modern cafes in town but you would be missing out on the home cooked food and great coffee served by the friendly owners. The breakfast is exceptional value with the traditional bacon, eggs and sausages delivered in large or 'half' size. We could only manage the half size and a coffee is included for just $9.00! A thoroughly enjoyable experience and worth the effort to look for the location.

After the rave reviews we did expect much more. The coffee was weak and the foam was not silky sooth as it should be.

I was on lunch break and took a wander down Argent street and the little cafe caught my eye. I had never heard of the Gourmet Cribtin before, so I decided to see what it had to offer. As soon as I stepped foot into the cafe, I was greeted with friendly smiles from enthusiastic staff and was truly made to feel at home. I ordered what I felt was the best coffee I've ever had. I found it so easy to feel comfortable in this cosy little cafe and and watched the time fly by as I admired the various items they had on display. It's more like a little museum, rather than a typical cafe. I was almost late back to work, I was so relaxed. I decided to take a pasty for the road. Honestly, it would've had to of been one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted. I never thought a pasty could taste so good. The Gourmet Cribtin has become one of my most frequented cafe's. I wouldn't go anywhere else for coffee and I recommend it to everyone. If you want friendly service with a smile, well-priced and delicious coffee and the best pasty in Australia, I highly suggest the Gourmet Cribtin.
